Enjoy a tranquil vacation in a renovated rustic stone cabin on Pisgah Creek. Seven can sleep comfortably in our three-bedroom cabin. Fine, well equipped and renovated kitchen. Outdoor space with a plank halfway across the creek. Grill. Firepit. Fireplace in l.r. Situated on Mt. Pisgah.

The space

Quiet solitude and natural beauty in a comfortable, well equipped cabin. Escape your hectic daily routines. Get in touch with your own rhythms and values. Stay at the cabin, read, hike the mountains or Pisgah Creek, or head off to explore the surroundings:

The place is magically beautiful in spring and fall and quite a wonder in summer as well. It's a great place from which to explore the Smokies; a haven for writing, reading, painting, and all outdoor sports.

This land was purchased by our grandfather, Jacob Raphaelson, in the 1940s. He had the cabin built and it has stayed in the family -- going to his two daughters, Virginia and Selma, and then to five siblings, children of Virginia and Ben.

Within 15-20 minutes from your cabin you will find:

• Blue Ridge Parkway. Cradle of Forestry Nature Center.

• Waynesville: art galleries, restaurants, antique stores, theater

• Springdale Golf Club

• Music Festivals (Brevard, Waynesville)

• Shining Rock Wilderness: hiking, swimming, sliding

Within 45 minutes:

• Biltmore House

• Grove Park Spa

• Asheville, with its art galleries, book stores, fine restaurants, mountain charm

• Cherokee Indian Reservation and Museum

• Cataloochee Ski Area

Guest access

Guests will have the full 3 b.r. cabin plus a well-equipped kitchen. Linens are provided. Beds (two queen, one full, one youth) are all made up for arrival; upon departing, linens should be washed and dried (they can be left in the dryer or folded on top). Charcoal grill is provided: bring charcoal and liter fluid, as needed. Fireplace in living room: bring your own firewood please. Verizon phone works. Limited internet. No t.v. Plank across creek and back deck near creek provide ideal places for out-of-door cooking and for meals.

Please treat the cabin well; leave things as you find them.
You may use spices, coffee, anything we've left in the cabin.
When you depart, take your recycling with you and all your garbage!
You can deposit them at the recycling center down on Rt. 276 to the right of the Firehouse and next to the old stone schoolhouse (now a craft center). Open MWF and Sat. If closed, Dollar Store on 276, left hand side, has dumpsters in back. A few gas stations have garbage cans.
Be sure not to leave paper around or any perishables in the frig.
Also, if you use the space heaters, turn them off when you're not in the house or in the room and when you depart.
The key-- be sure to leave it where you found it!

Jake's cabin was absolutely adorable and the perfect getaway! Nancy was very accommodating with our early check-in time. The house was clean and well-kept. However, I will admit that in the loft upstairs, the sheets did have some staining on them.

Response from Nancy:
Ashlee -- so sorry about the stains on bedding! Will see to it right away. Also, did you have pets? If so, we generally ask guests to leave a pet fee of about $15 for our cleaner; just let me know. Thanks, Nancy.

We loved Jakes cabin. The home has lots of character and reminded me of my grandmothers older home, rustic and kinda pieced together. It felt like a well loved special family home. Two of the large stove burners didn’t work but we only needed two. Internet was weak but worked great. The creek and deck are absolutely magical. Thank you for hosting us Nancy!

Great location for a peaceful stay in the mountains! The creek was fantastic and the cabin offered a perfect mix of rustic yet comfortable. Fire pit was great for a cool evening with friends around a fire. (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps address was spot on for locating the house. Just make sure to cache the map as cell service is hit or miss anywhere in the mountains. Highly Recommend!

Response from Nancy:
Thanks for the information on the shower; I'll have it checked out right away. The shower and tub -- they were thoroughly cleaned by Teresa but I think I need to have someone address stains. Glad you all enjoyed your visit! Do hope you come again. I'll do some fixing up after this scene. Nancy

We loved our stay! It's definitely out there but so much to do in the surrounding area. The cabin is rustic and the perfect quiet getaway. The creek along the property is stunning as is the little path that runs along it. The kids were in heaven.

Response from Nancy:
Dear Robert, Thanks for your private feedback. Sorry about the baby snakes and thanks for removing them. Bathroom tub -- was cleaned by Teresa, but I think some of the enamel has worn away. Asked her about cobwebs -- I do have a pest service come. I'm not nearby but rely on my cleaner, so I did send her your feedback. I'm excited that your kids loved the vacation; were they fascinated, too, by the baby snakes? My son Alex (now quite grown up at 45) is a naturalist and loves when critters show up. I think he got that way from trips to Jake's Cabin in his youth! (I'm a bit more squeamish!). All best! Do come back. Nancy

Communication with owner went smoothly. Great location with river right outside the back door. Kitchen is down a steep flight of stairs, but can be accessed from outside as well. Location and cabin were great, although bedding could use updating. Departed on a Sunday which made it difficult to find somewhere to haul the trash away.
