This little guesthouse is such a Vientiane gem. The hosts were so nice and helpful, even making sure that the bus to my onward destination picked me up on time. The room was super comfortable with one of the best beds (and strongest air conditioning) I've had during my travels in Southeast Asia. They have bikes for rent for 10,000 kip per day (which is not a lot in local currency) and an onsite restaurant. I did not use either, but would have if my stay was longer.

Rattana's place is really nice and well located (around 10-15 minutes from the city center). The room was spacious, clean and furnished in a colonial style. There is tea and coffee available in the common area. We didn't get to meet Rattana's, but we met her husband, who welcomed us nicely despite our very early arrival in the morning.

I stayed at Rattana's place for one week! It was clean, comfortable, and in a great location. About a 10-15 minute walk from the center, but in an area with lively nightlife (but only until ~11 pm). Renting a bike to get around town worked out perfectly. Rattana and Peter were very welcoming and helpful throughout the stay. They even helped me find a Lao language tutor for the week (their daughter, who was a great teacher!). Finally, I ate at the restaurant a few times during the week and everything was great! I would definitely stay here again!

We didn't meet Rattana but we met her husband. He was friendly and welcoming. The property itself is directly next to the Mekong river and a restored old French colonial house, with its original floor tiles and doors and windows. I personally like this kind of unique setting rather than modern look, just for a change. We were given the room number 2 with king size bed and ensuite, facing the Mekong river. We had access to the balcony but it wasn't direct, which was good because it wasn't as noisy. There were some noises from the bar and the restos surround, but we could deal with it as it was minimal. The wifi was awesome. There was a bar fridge, dresser and wardrobe in the room. Rattans provided complimentary tea coffee everyday all day for guests. And we could drink them as we looked out to the river in the balcony. As it is a restored French colonial house, the room retained its original shower. The shower only had a small floor waste so the water drained really slow. That was the only thing that we found hard to navigate. Also, the only TV channels available for us were the local Lao TV channels, French news and Chinese news channel. Mekong river has an infamous beautiful sunset. I'd recommend everyone to grab some drinks at Rattana's resto and continue with drinks as you watch the sun setting in. Location is spot on. Tuktuk is available by the door step and there's plenty of restos and bars around. Overall, it is a great place for a good value. Highly recommend!

Rattana and Peter are fantastic hosts! They are very accommodating, responsive folks who will go completely out of their way to help you with anything that could make your time in Vientiane more enjoyable. Also, their restaurant has one of the best hamburgers I've ever eaten :) The room was quite large and very comfortable. I slept really well each and every night :) My only caution would be that if you are a person who goes to bed before 10pm, you may experience some noise from the music at the restaurant. But who really goes to bed that early? The location was a little but outside town, but a 15 minute walk will get you to the center of the action. Actually, it was very nice to be away from town because town can be somewhat noisy, but after 10pm the are around Peter and Rattana's place is quiet and peaceful. And the views at sunset are amazing! Not to mention the excellent ambience the style of music in this area provides. All in all, I would definitely stay at this location again and recommend it to anyone who wants a great value room in a peaceful part of town within decent walking distance to the action.

We had an excellent stay here. Clean, comfortable and extremely helpful owners and staff, who made us feel like home. The location is fantastic, sufficiently away from the noise. The restaurant is right in front of the place, overlooking Mekong river... ... Thanks. Hope to visit there again.
