The space

One continental breakfast for two is provided. This includes fruit in season, croissant or bagel, butter, jam, coffee/tea and milk. The kitchen has a hotplate, a small refrigerator, cooking and dining utensils, oil, salt and pepper. There is also a large refrigerator on the deck. The living area opens directly onto the balcony, which extends over the ridge. A wood burning stove with plenty of wood and kindling will keep you warm during any cold days or nights.

Guest access

The cabin is 50 meters above and behind our house and is very private with its own partially enclosed courtyard and balcony. Apart from us, the nearest neighbour is 1 kilometer away.

You have your own parking space and a key to come and go as you wish.

Interaction with guests

We respect your privacy, but are available to help make your visit more comfortable should you need us.

The neighbourhood

Kohukohu Village is approximately 15 minutes away and has a cafe, pub, grocery store and an art gallery. Rawene, Opononi and the Kauri Forest make good day trips; Mitimiti Beach is 40 km away; Ngawha Hot Springs is just outside of Kaikohe, which is approximately 30 minutes from Rawene.

Getting around

While we are centrally located, we are very rural North Island. Plan to take longer than expected when travelling to nearby tourist destinations.

Other things to note

This is a rural experience. The location is fairly remote and the road to the property is unpaved. We have a friendly compost toilet and a gravity-fed filtered rainwater system.

Infants under crawling age are welcome and there is no charge. We ask, however, that used disposable diapers are taken with you when you leave.

Fantastic place for a weekend getaway! Such a cute cabin in a gorgeous location, and there was a friendly little dog to hang out with. The local cafe did great coffee too.

This place is a jewel in the forest, and I think it's very underpriced. The cabin is lovingly made and tastefully decorated. We were very comfortable there, tucked inside when the tail end of a cyclone drenched the region with pouring down rain, and happy sitting on the balcony watching birds in the canopy when the sun came out. The bed was cozy, the internet fast, the kitchen the perfect size, and the location amazing. Cherie was a wonderful host. When we were unable to make it to the cabin on the day we had reserved it, she let us move our reservation to another night when it was still available at no charge. We felt quite welcomed and pampered. I couldn't recommend this place more.

Its the perfect place to relax a few days. Very quiet with breathtaking views! The cabin has everything you need for self catering and good internet.
