The space

Welcome to our country house in the city! Our family home is a cozy 3 bedroom 2.5 baths, with one of the larger and most kid-friendly back yards in Takoma Park, with a zip line, kid swing, sandbox, BBQ grill, patio and picnic furniture. There is also a basketball hoop in the driveway. Takoma Park is the place to stay for those who love green trees or simply "being green" while staying as close to Washington DC as possible. 1 block from the Sligo Creek walking and biking toe path and a playground. Minutes by bus to Old Town Takoma or contemporary Silver Spring where there are restaurants, shops (including Whole Foods, and organic cooperative market, and standard grocers, plus multiple international markets), farmer markets, and one of the best independent film movie theaters in the country (plus a regular movie theater).

First floor full kitchen, living, dining table for 6 with additional Grow with Me Chair.

Basement with large recreation/TV room with television connected to internet; utility room with washer/dryer; additional room with queen sized bed, and a half bath.

FIOS internet. In summer months, if you enjoy gardening, front yard contains fresh herbs which you are free to use for cooking!

If you are looking for a business or family retreat that makes you feel like you are at home, while staying as close to the City as possible, this is it. We look forward to your visit!

Great place, great host, great location. Within easy distance to Washington DC. Very roomy and comfortable. Cara was very patient with our " first time on Airbnb " questions.

I had an amazing time at Cara's. The place is very cozy and quiet. My 5 year old daughter really enjoyed all the toys. The highlight of the house was the backyard. This was our favorite place to hang out every afternoon. Cara was also very nice and answered quickly to our emails.

This home is Takoma Park was charming, as was the neighborhood. It was a wonderful place for my family and I stay, with plenty of space the four of us and my parents. We had convenient access to Washington D.C. and plenty of great restaurants in close proximity. The backyard is as nice as it's described by the owners and my kids enjoyed themselves. Cara was a wonderful host and, despite the fact that she was traveling, was easy to reach if we needed anything.

Cara was kind enough to send a list of helpful instructions, including what to do if there were floods, which actually did happen while we were there. My children adored the bunk beds, the toys, the board games and the garden toys. I felt that the kitchen was very easy to use. The area is a quiet area near a park and a university. Shops and banks an easy driving distance. Everything was great. From here we went to the National Park Zoo (we drove) and also to Jefferson Memorial, The Capitol and The Air Space Museum. One of our favourite places to stay.

Cara and her wonderful family really made us feel at home by introducing us to the neighbors and ensuring we had a very thorough welcome pack of every nook and cranny in the house. Cara makes herself available for even the smallest request, even when she is away. If you have children, this house is the perfect house with many special features that you can't find in a hotel. The playroom was filled with play dresses, legos, blocks and even a small gymnastics area that kept my daughter occupied for hours. If you like to read and play family games, they have quite a few. The neighborhood is charming and everyone is extremely friendly.
