My family had a very nice stay at Rebecca's home, the house is very unique and accommodating for large parties. The only thing (which wasnt a big issue for us) was that the beach/lake is actually like 10-15 minutes walk through the woods. Once there though, aboslutely beautiful!

This rural retreat of a home is a special place. A hybrid of classic farmhouse architecture with comfortable appointments and attention to modern detail. My husband and I came up from New York to combine a gig at the Stone Mountain Arts Center with quiet time away from the city. We explored the property and area and were fully delighted with where we were. The house is lovely and cozy even though we were a party of two. Beautiful light streaming in from every perspective accentuated by a fresh blanket of snowfall. We were greeted by Kathy just after we arrived and made to feel completely comfortable in her ancestral home. We had a lovely time relaxing at Rebecca's place and venturing out in the region. A perfect way to welcome the new year. We hope to return and experience Porter during a new season.

We had a very comfy and relaxing stay over the Thanksgiving holiday. Plenty of room for 3 siblings and their family, the house was in good shape and had a lot of charm. We also enjoyed walking around the property, especially the 10 minute stroll down to the lake. Everyone agreed a warm-weather trip was in order! Rob, a neighbor and relation to the owner, turned on the heat for us before we arrived and came over late on Thanksgiving night to show us around. He was very nice and helpful in making sure we were all set up. It was also great hearing a little bit about the history of the house and area. One important note for cold-weather visitors. The fireplace and woodstove are off-limits, which was not entirely clear to us before we booked. Nevertheless, the house was very warm and cozy.

This place is special. So different from the cookie-cuttery of suburbia. In the morning the sweet smell of cut hay is refreshing and walking barefoot on this rustic ground grounds the soul that is bamboozled by the hectic lifestyle of modernity. Don't get me wrong. This rural getaway is wonderfully furnished and my five friends and I thoroughly enjoyed staying here. Some worked a little (can you believe that) and some cooked liver and onions on a gas stove. We loved it here! I am sure that you will love it here as well. Kudos to Rob and Kathy, owners of the place, for making this gem available for city folks like us.

Bright beautiful house with a sprawling property. We had several memorable dinners outside on the lawn. We wish we could have stayed longer! Loved it!

This place is amazing, huge and on an unforgettable property. I don't think I've ever been in woods that are so evocative and cool! The hosts were the best they could possibly be and I give this my highest possible recommendation!!!

This cabin is the IDEAL cabin for a summer getaway. We had five people in the cabin, and there were more than enough bedrooms to choose from. The house was incredibly large and the kitchen was fully stocked for all of the cooking that we did. The cabin is in the middle of nowhere, which allows for a large and beautiful yard as a backdrop to nighttime grilling. The small beachfront area was amazing, with friendly neighbors stopping by on boat to say hello. Everyone had the best time, and every morning we all woke up so thrilled to be in such a wonderful place.
