The Hungry Hippie Farm & Hostel is a warm and welcoming place. The place is also very clean, cozy and friendly. I will definitely recommend this place if you stay up north.

Exactly how it's pictured and described. Such a great space to meet new people and enjoy a beautiful time on the North Shore. Will be returning!

This hostel is well done. I've never stayed in a hostel before, but it was about as I expected. Kate checked me in and gave me a tour of the grounds. She's thought of every detail. When I got upstairs my bunk had a cute sign hanging on it with my name. In the morning I stepped onto the back landing and watched three deer 100 yards away. Lovely scenery. I would stay here again.

I LOVED the Hungry Hippie! Kate was as sweet as could be and the hostel is just amazing! I stayed in the bunk house and everyone was so friendly and familiar with hostel living so it made it very comfortable and easy to be there. The decor was so perfect for this place and really had an eco-friendly feel. The kitchen was stocked with dishes and all the accouterments you would need for a quick trip or even several weeks. The location was perfect for seeing all of the tourist traps available, so I'll stay here again and again if I get the chance!

Kate and Jeremy were very welcoming and helpful. The entire building was always clean and stocked with necessary supplies. The fire pit area had such comfortable chairs that I didn't want to leave.

Just a few miles out of Grand Marais, this hostel is spotlessly clean and nearly new. You should be clear - if you get a bunk in the bunkhouse, and not a private room, you get exactly that. Your neighbors could vary by age and gender (and volume of snoring!), so if you're modest or concerned about not having a place to lock up valuables other than your vehicle, go the private room option. The bunks are rock solid and don't move even if the other sleeper (upper or lower) is restless, and earplugs are thoughtfully provided. :) If you're going to be in GM for a few days or stopping through on a trail hike, this is a great, low-cost option. Other hotels and resorts in the area are pretty expensive, but Kate and Jeremy have provided comfortable accommodations at a very reasonable price, and they are friendly and helpful hosts.

Cute, comfy and friendly. I slept like a baby in the bunk room.
