A glamping experience on Chebeague Island (a true island--no bridge). The Studio is a converted loft of a 135 year old barn remaining open to the raw rafters. Two bedrooms have been walled off. The rustic living area includes a kitchen and private bathroom w/shower. The sitting area opens to a large deck overlooking the ocean. Property includes shorefront for picnics, boating and swimming. It's a short walk to a large white sandy beach, the Chebeague Inn and the Stone Wharf ferry landing.
The Studio has a private well and the water is drinkable and regularly tested. The septic system is old, please do not flush any personal hygiene products. There is no garbage disposal, so please be aware of what is put in the sink. The kitchen sink drains slowly.
Included are a coffee maker, microwave, toaster, range, outdoor grill, lobster cooker, pots, pans, dishes, paper products. hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, soap, cleaning supplies, a first aid kit, iron and ironing board. Please let us know if other amenities are needed to make your stay more pleasant.
We provide nutritious and fun snacks and milk. Internet, TV, VCR, and a Donkey Kong Junior Arcade machine (set on free play) are included.
Our deck has been completely rebuilt. Nonetheless, we ask that children be supervised when they play on it. The large picnic table and electrically operated awning make the deck perfect for dining or just lazy lounging.
The bedrooms are partitioned off rooms with open rafters thus no sound privacy.
We include a User Manual with details of the amenities and history of the property.
Feel free to ask any questions and give any suggestions.
You are welcome to use the bicycles they are presently in the barn. In the garage are trash cans that you can use if you need to empty your trash. The rest of the barn and garage are private; though please let us know if there is something you need.
Groceries can be ordered from Whole Foods in Portland and will be delivered to Chebeague on most days if requested. Let us know and we will explain how it works.
Interaction with guests
Please feel free to call anytime you have a problem or question. We both usually work during the day but can be reached by phone or text. AirBnB won't let us provide our number, but we'll give it to you when you arrive.
Other things to note
When you're walking Chebeague's roads, please be sure to wave to the passing cars...they expect it!
There's a great local website that lists everything that's going on -- do a search for Chebeague and you'll find it. AirBnB blocks posting the URL here.
It is on an Island. Cars must be left in a lot on the mainland and guest take a boat. There is no car ferry. Do an internet search for Chebeague Transportation Company and Casco Bay Lines for more info. People are often surprised about the cost.
Pets are negotiable.
I am a wife, nurse, mom, and grandmother. I enjoy quilting, cooking and caring for others. Aibnb is a new adventure for me. The kids live all over the world and I miss them. I am excited to meet new people and make sure they are comfortable in our studio.
