A glamping experience on Chebeague Island (a true island--no bridge). The Studio is a converted loft of a 135 year old barn remaining open to the raw rafters. Two bedrooms have been walled off. The rustic living area includes a kitchen and private bathroom w/shower. The sitting area opens to a large deck overlooking the ocean. Property includes shorefront for picnics, boating and swimming. It's a short walk to a large white sandy beach, the Chebeague Inn and the Stone Wharf ferry landing.

The space

The Studio has a private well and the water is drinkable and regularly tested. The septic system is old, please do not flush any personal hygiene products. There is no garbage disposal, so please be aware of what is put in the sink. The kitchen sink drains slowly.

Included are a coffee maker, microwave, toaster, range, outdoor grill, lobster cooker, pots, pans, dishes, paper products. hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, soap, cleaning supplies, a first aid kit, iron and ironing board. Please let us know if other amenities are needed to make your stay more pleasant.

We provide nutritious and fun snacks and milk. Internet, TV, VCR, and a Donkey Kong Junior Arcade machine (set on free play) are included.

Our deck has been completely rebuilt. Nonetheless, we ask that children be supervised when they play on it. The large picnic table and electrically operated awning make the deck perfect for dining or just lazy lounging.

The bedrooms are partitioned off rooms with open rafters thus no sound privacy.

We include a User Manual with details of the amenities and history of the property.

Feel free to ask any questions and give any suggestions.

Guest access

You are welcome to use the bicycles they are presently in the barn. In the garage are trash cans that you can use if you need to empty your trash. The rest of the barn and garage are private; though please let us know if there is something you need.

Groceries can be ordered from Whole Foods in Portland and will be delivered to Chebeague on most days if requested. Let us know and we will explain how it works.

Interaction with guests

Please feel free to call anytime you have a problem or question. We both usually work during the day but can be reached by phone or text. AirBnB won't let us provide our number, but we'll give it to you when you arrive.

Other things to note

When you're walking Chebeague's roads, please be sure to wave to the passing cars...they expect it!

There's a great local website that lists everything that's going on -- do a search for Chebeague and you'll find it. AirBnB blocks posting the URL here.

Our stay was amazing! Nancy had provided everything we needed and then some- it exceeded our expectations and was perfect for our family. We felt right at home - couldn't have been better!

The only place for a truly relaxing vacation. Nancy and Dave are the perfect hosts. Was pleasantly surprised with the extras. There were snacks waiting for us and a beautiful bottle of wine. Being an artist I enjoyed learning about the history of The Studio. The Studio has a very rustic charm to go along with its history. I found myself going back in time when I looked at certain things and wondered who might have crafted the drawers in the kitchen and kitchen shelves. A short walk to the beach, we spent a lot of time there. Can't wait to make a return visit. We were very appreciative of the personal touches like the welcome message waiting for us on the steps. Loved the new, huge deck. If we weren't on the beach we were on the deck. Nancy and Dave have thought of everything.

This was exactly as described - we got to experience a great time on a calm laid-back island, we loved riding the bikes they had around the island, appreciated all the little "extras" for us as well. We had great weather in early September, although it was good we brought our sweatshirts for the evening! We loved the water, spent time rock-hunting and digging in the sand, we saw deer in the lawn in the evening.... it was a great vacation for us and our two boys (aged 2 & 5). Thank you so much!!

Our stay at the Studio was a wonderful way to spend Labor Day and close out summer 2017. So many mentionables! The location, the view, the beach, the oh so comfy beds draped in beautiful quilts made by Nancy, the sun soaked huge deck where we spent much of our time, the Adirondack chairs at waters edge, the two baby deer we saw frolic on the lawn just before watching a beautiful sunset. I could go on! The thoughtfulness and hospitality shown by Nancy and Dave was outstanding. Thank you!

Nancy and Dave were amazing hosts. They had a bottle of champagne on ice to help us celebrate our 17th anniversary, as well a fridge stocked with snacks and drinks. We couldn't have felt more welcome when we arrived on Chebeague. This is a perfect getaway: private, great view, 1 minute stroll to a private beach, very rustic and full of character. I personally appreciated the vintage Donkey Kong Jr game table, as well as the extra large roof-top porch overlooking Casco Bay. Easy 1 mile bike ride to the Slow Bell Cafe with great food and drinks--and there even happened to be a live band with dancing under the stars while we were there. We had a magical 2 days out on Chebeauge, and we can't wait to get back to stay with Nancy and Dave.

Chebegue is a treasure island. David and Nancy, and their Studio is a Jewel on it. We enjoyed it last year with them so much, that we came this year again. We discovered new interesting places on the island. Such, a wonderful outdoor swimming pool and recreational area with a playground for kids. We walked miles on the beach to Little Chebegue during the low tide. We visited a farm stand, and met a farmer Chuck, who takes a great care of his farm and land. Trips to Chebegue is one of our great experiences we had in life!

Every BnB host should drop what they're doing and go take lessons from Nancy & David here! They have it down. You'll never find a nicer couple and they know guest service. This is the most picturesque location on the friendliest Maine island you'll ever find. Have Kevin, the water taxi driver show you around while you're there. He's a super guy too! If you're looking for the quintessential 3-season coastal Maine cottage with everything you'd ever need, this is your place. Bring the kids and create some memories. Like, right now--book this place now!

I am a wife, nurse, mom, and grandmother. I enjoy quilting, cooking and caring for others. Aibnb is a new adventure for me. The kids live all over the world and I miss them. I am excited to meet new people and make sure they are comfortable in our studio.
