Response from Nikki:
Now I am struggling with reading this review and very shocked at some of the items mentioned as they are quite contrary to actual facts! I have never had any issues before with any of this. First of all, Jenna never called me to ask how to get in to the complex she said Siri had her all turned around ( I have always guided all my guests through the complex on how to get here). When she did enter, I called her and walked her through how to get to my building and parking spot. Her friend had issues too (again using Siri) on finding the place and I was right next to Jenna explaining to let her friend know how to get here. It is clearly stated in my profile that I have one reserved parking spot. Not sure if Jenna has ever hosted, but there are places in the listing that indicate what amenities you have. You can say only YES OR NO to them (there is no in between place to add comments in the Amenities section. And YES, I have a reserved parking spot. Next off, Any electrical cords I have are "hidden" under the couch, tv/tv stand and nightstand. Now, unless you move these items, you won't have them exposed. There are some curling/flat irons in the vanity, but they were not all plugged in and kept safely inside drawers. Thirdly, this is an older unit but still kept very clean and tidy and maintenance up kept. Since it is attached to other condos, the electricity is all combined. The only thing that will blow the fuse is a large hair dryer over 1000 watts. I explained this to Jenna and showed her the hair dryer I use that will not blow the fuse (and works just fine) as a common courtesy as you don't have the space to list any little nuance on your AirBnB listing. She said she doesn't use hair dryers anyways so not to worry. There are a couple of plugs that don't work in the kitchen/dining area (which I am fixing and were unaware about them as I don't use them), but more than enough that do work as I have a fully operational kitchen. Under the "Amenities" section on your AirBnB listing, you either put YES or NO if you have a washer/dryer/Laundromat in building (this is an all encompassing question on AirBnB). YES, I have both, However, AGAIN as a COMMON COURTESY, I let her know it is quicker to use the Laundromat if she wished to clean/dry clothes quicker as it is industrial strength. Mine is energy efficient so it takes a little longer. If you have never hosted, you would not know that there is no place to explain this in the amenities section and never "recommended" to use my washer/dryer. It works just fine (and many of my previous guests have used it with no issues), but it a bit slower to dry than the dryer at the laundromat which is literally 10 steps away from my front door. I let Jenna know that for two people (unless it was a couple) it would be more comfortable to use the bed (which is larger than a full- was sold to me from Mattress Firm labeled as a QUEEN) and I have a queen air mattress. And if you look at the sheets/bedding it all says QUEEN and fits for a QUEEN. She told me she and her friend always slept in the same bed anyways and didn't even need to consider the air mattress which fits with more than enough room to spare either up or downstairs (which they elected not to use, so if they had issues with the bed size, why not use it?). As far as storage space is concerned, I cleared out almost half of my walk in closet (shoes/clothes on one side and other side all theirs), provided 4 full dresser drawers and cleared out all the nightstand drawers to make space (as much space you would have in a standard hotel room). They elected not to use any of the drawers/space). I showed her this and asked her if she needed more space and she said "No, we are just here to work and sleep, we don't need all that space since we literally work all day and come home to unwind and sleep and wake up early and do it all again". Regarding, the "Nightgowns" on the hook in the bathroom, most of these are freshly cleaned robes for guest use, just like you would have in a hotel, that is why they were left there. There may have been a couple of nightgowns, but those are mostly 2 piece sets that match some of the robes. Again, trying to be accommodating because I knew two young women were coming., none of this is lingerie. They will be removed going forward. Matter of fact, anything that was left out was for guest use (lotions, body sprays, all new toiletries - shampoo/conditioner, soaps, loofahs, shower caps, etc). The garbage disposal went out the morning of the day they were checking in and got that fixed immediately. Unfortunately, while they were there the AC started leaking which had started the day before due to the low AC temp freezing up the line (- it was 105 degrees out, the AC still worked was just leaking a bit). Again, I fixed this immediately and there have been no issues with my AC thereafter, working as good as new and no mold at all (it is unfair to judge to say there is a mold issue when there is not). This is Houston and the heat index was 105 during the time they were there, AC's in Houston are bound to go array at some point, unfortunately it happened the day before they arrived. I always check my guests in in person since there are things I like to show them that they wouldn't know otherwise, such as how to work the Smart TV and Amazon TV, some upstairs lighting is controlled from a switch (they would not know this if I didn't show them). show them the amenities, pools, etc. Everything I did for Jenna and her friend were from the kindness of my heart and out of common courtesy. I checked on them frequently to make sure they were enjoying their stay and that all was going well. They NEVER once said there were any issues so that is not fair to provide such a review when you had several opportunities to advise if there were any issues on your end. I have never had anyone else complain about any of this and I have had families with children stay, yet they were happy that I walked them through the house and checked them in. Jenna I am sorry that you felt this way, but you really should have addressed any issues at the moment they arrived as I checked in with you all frequently and you never mentioned anything. I would have taken care of them immediately if that was the case. It is unfair to leave a review like this as I checked in frequently and nothing was ever mentioned.
