The space

The calmest of beaches in Eleuthera are on the Caribbean side of the island. With a southwest exposure, you will experience some of the most incredible sunsets in the world. This unique location offers you over 1,500 feet of beach front to enjoy. It is nestled between two small rocky point peninsulas, creating a very calm and private atmosphere, alluring you to make this your lifetime vacation home, as it has for many others.

This completely furnished home was completely renovated in 2010/2011 and no expense has been spared.

Amenities include AC in all rooms, wifi, satellite TV, DVD player, CD player, video library, music library, washer/dryer, and three sea kayaks (two single and one tandem).

Pau Pau Bay was named many years ago, upon the discovery of the land's abundance in vegetation. Among the many fruits, there are pau pau (papayas), coconuts, and pineapples. Directly in front of the beach are the Pineapple Cays, four islands that offer a great anchorage and protection on windy days. Pau Pau Bay is home for an astonishingly diverse collection of sea creatures living in just 3 to 9 feet of water...

The town of Governors Harbour, less than 10 minutes away, has a charming collection of 19th century homes and churches overlooking its historic harbor. Buy fresh fish and lobster every afternoon from fisherman at the town dock, or visit the recently restored Haynes Library, which dates from 1897, for the weekly coffee hour for foreign residents and tourists. Governors Harbour has grocery stores, restaurants, liquor stores, two banks with ATMs, a bakery, gift shops, a dive shop, and a medical clinic. Friday Night Fish Fry in Governors Harbour, a street/beach party that brings together all the tourists and locals with food, drink, and dancing in the street, is not to be missed.

Eleuthera is famous for its 100 miles of spectacular, deserted beaches. The island, home to just 8000 residents, is completely safe any time of the day or night. Enjoy the rare experience of picking up hitch-hikers and leaving your keys in the car wherever you go. The snorkeling, diving, and fishing on the island are world class. Boating, surfing, and other water sports are also popular. You can rent power boats, sailboats, sea kayaks, bikes. You can have a charter captain take you out for excursions of various types. There is excellent sightseeing as well. Eleuthera has vast caves, cliffs, a bottomless ocean hole, many unique beaches, historic churches and 19th century homes, and small villages to explore. We hope you will enjoy Pau Pau Beach Estate, and experience all our island has to offer.

It is such an unexpected pleasure to have a vacation rental exceed every expectation. The house is perfect for a big family reunion -- or for two families. The layout has a wing with two bedrooms (plus an interior bedroom with no windows -- great for napping!) and a bathroom. A door closes the wing off from the rest of the house. So lots of privacy between families, generations, etc. Totally great. I guess I knew the house had a private beach when we rented it, but I really had no idea that it was a HUGE BEACH with no one on it -- a couple of steps from the kitchen door! And a private, little cove with lots of fish. Gorgeous water, gorgeous sand, great snorkeling and nobody else. Perfect for little kids. Two kayaks to goof off in. Perfectly adequate kitchen (bring coffee, no need for filters!). Comfy beds. Everything was meticulously clean. We walked out on the Pau Pau hiking trail behind the house on the last day. It should be called Shelob's Trail. Freaking giant spiders with webs across the trail. And a big termite mound. I still have heebie jeebies from that walk! Couple things we did really well on this vacation: 1) brought snacks and food from home for the picky eaters. Grocery stores are sparse and crazy expensive. 2) good, well-fitting snorkeling gear from home. The house doesn't have snorkeling gear and it was awesome to roll out of bed that first morning and have it all ready to go. Things we'll do better next time: 1) no see 'em protection. I, apparently, am the sweet one and got eaten alive. My husband counted 14 bites on my back alone. The screens on the bedroom windows won't stop the no-see-ems -- I even hung mosquito netting over our beds, but they flew right through. We finally just closed the windows, turned on the AC and slept great. Make sure you bring bug spray if you're going to be outside in the evening. 2) dinner reservations. We learned, after getting turned away from Tippy's and the Rainbow Inn, to call ahead and make dinner reservations. We were a party of 8, so tough to get in at the last minute. And be prepared $30 plates. One thing my elderly in-laws didn't much like was the long, rough road to get to the house. The price of privacy, I guess. I didn't mind, but it's a rough quarter mile or so. We loved our week at this house. Highly recommend!

You will love Eleuthera, this amazing unspoiled and undiscovered island. I
love the beaches, which are spectacular and deserted, the slow pace, the
friendly people, and the complete absence of crowds. We are a rental agency that handles Eleuthera exclusively. I will send you complete information about activities, restaurants, getting around the island, etc. Every house we represent has a local owner, property manager, caretaker who will meet you upon arrival and get you settled in.
