Lovely restored Double bed room in 200 years old watermill, with river, waterfalls and fruit terraces.

The space

The mill is a very special place with a stunning surrounding, as the gardens, the river and the forest. The buildings itself are rustic and decorated with love. The double bed room with an exit directly to the backyard and unique decoration is a lovely place to stay. Two bathrooms and the kitchen are shared by all the guests, and equipped with everything essential. There are a six, a four, and a double bed dorm. All linen and towels are provided. There is WLAN all around the area.

Guest access

2 Bathrooms and WCs are shared with the other guests. Access to the kitchen, big barbecue area, gardens, forest, and river.

Interaction with guests

I live in the same area, so I am in general available

Other things to note

The last 200 meters to the mill are dirt road. I recommend to park the car 50 meters above the mill at the parking sign and to descend the last meters on foot, to decide then if you want to park directly in front of the mill. The double bed room is located underneath the shared kitchen. Guests are there fore encouraged to keep silence in the kitchen after 22 h and early in the morning. Dinner and breakfast can be prepared for an extra fee.

Lovely room in a beautiful spot, easy to find and Niko was a friendly and welcoming host. I just wish we had more time there!

The old watermill is a stunning place if you are open for its charm. We booked the room for 2 and enjoyed the room as well as the scenery. The mill is restored with love and eye for detail. The location might be a bit remote but for those who want to experience portugal in a rural atmosphere it is perfect. We were the only guest, so we had the kitchen for ourselves, but we believe sharing the kitchen with other guests won't be a problem. It was a pleasure to meet Nikolaus who is a very kind and helpfull host. Consider the price you pay and enjoy what Nikolaus offers.

The place is interesting and quite unique. Be warned that the double room is cost but noisy, despite Niko's best effort to put up instructions to be quiet after 10pm. Also, if you require a meal prepared by Niko, you need to ask him. The suggestion will not come from him.

Response from Niko:
Usually guests here take the opportunity to prepare their own meals. When Alexia and Ullrich asked me for dinner I prepared them a huge barbecue with meat, foil potatoes and salad, also four sandwiches for the next day. Kitchen floor and stairs above the double bed room are insulated with cork parkette and carpets above wood planks. Also the guests are encouraged to avoid noise in the kitchen after 22 h. Usually it should be quiet in the mill after 10 PM.

We loved the atmosphere at Niko's hostel, it's picturesque and isolated thus perfect for a romantic stay, day and night. Already one of our fav spots in Portugal !

We had a glorious stay at the Mill, Nikolaus was helpful, attentive, generous and kind and we could absoloutely not fault his hosting. The whole place was clean and welcoming, in the most beautiful of settings. All needs were met with generous cooking utensils, WiFi in the house and outside in the garden, and even a friendly kitten to play with! There were two work awayers staying also who were more than happy to help, and extremely welcoming! The mill was the highlight of our trip, and we cannot stress more how beautiful the surroundings were! Most highly recommend! If you're looking for a rustic, romantic get away, this is most definitely the one to go for! Thank you Nikolaus for sharing your wonderful place with us!

What made our time here special was being right next to the running water of the stream. Hearing it run right next to our room was so relaxing and special. The room was simple, basic but all we needed for our time there. It would've been nice to have wifi in the kitchen/communal area. We had a little trouble finding the place but Niko kindly answered our call when we needed more help. Its remote! The place was also occupied by 3 other work aways which brought a friendly atmosphere to the place. We ate together which was sweet however it was a little noisy in the mornings as people would be getting breakfast and the room is below the kitchen. We didn't mind so much but it probably isn't so much for anyone wanting more seclusion or privacy. We had a lovely few days there, enjoyed the river and Niko cooked us some great meals although perhaps not ideal for a vegetarian - but homey and tasteful. This place was great value and cool. Thanks Niko! All the very best.

Response from Niko:
Thanks Jack for the suggestions. WIFI indeed was not available in the kitchen, but in all the other precious common areas outside, where the people usually prefer to stay. I did now some experiments, changed again positions of router and WLAN Repeater and guess WIFI connection, also in the mill is now better.

We stayed with Niko for one night. He has been really helpful giving directions to his place. It is a beautifully renovated watermill and there s a really good vibe. We would definitely stay there again.
