Although a little off the Camino, this place is really worth a stay. Nikolaus is such a great host and will help you with whatever issues you may (or may not) have. So beautifully scenic and unique, do not miss a chance to stay here. He has thought of everything.

The old watermill is a stunning place if you are open for its charm. We booked the room for 2 and enjoyed the room as well as the scenery. The mill is restored with love and eye for detail. The location might be a bit remote but for those who want to experience portugal in a rur…

The place is interesting and quite unique. Be warned that the double room is cost but noisy, despite Niko's best effort to put up instructions to be quiet after 10pm. Also, if you require a meal prepared by Niko, you need to ask him. The suggestion will not come from him.

Response from Niko:
Usually guests here take the opportunity to prepare their own meals. When Alexia and Ullrich asked me for dinner I prepared them a huge barbecue with meat, foil potatoes and salad, also four sandwiches for the next day. Kitchen floor and stairs above the double bed room are insulated with cork parkette and carpets above wood planks. Also the guests are encouraged to avoid noise in the kitchen after 22 h. Usually it should be quiet in the mill after 10 PM.

We loved the atmosphere at Niko's hostel, it's picturesque and isolated thus perfect for a romantic stay, day and night. Already one of our fav spots in Portugal !

What made our time here special was being right next to the running water of the stream. Hearing it run right next to our room was so relaxing and special. The room was simple, basic but all we needed for our time there. It would've been nice to have wifi in the kitchen/communal …

Response from Niko:
Thanks Jack for the suggestions. WIFI indeed was not available in the kitchen, but in all the other precious common areas outside, where the people usually prefer to stay. I did now some experiments, changed again positions of router and WLAN Repeater and guess WIFI connection, also in the mill is now better.
