Overlooking Wellington's fabulous harbour, with views from every room, our home is in Wadestown, a leafy and beautiful suburb close to the attractions of the city centre. The main guest room is a comfy space for one or two, and you're always welcome to use the general living spaces when you're at home. From street level, there is access to the house by private cable car, so you don't have to carry your cases and for those arriving by car, on-street-parking is never a problem.

The space

Our guest room is a bright airy space overlooking the harbour and city. Apart from the basic furnishings, there is also some additional storage available just outside the room (particularly useful for hanging garments or very bulky cases). The bathroom facilities accessible to guests are the main / house bathroom and (separate) toilet. The hosts have ensuite facilities, so in the normal course of events guests have the use of the main bathroom facilities pretty much to themselves (although if we have family / friends staying at the same time that wouldn't be the case).

Guest access

We also welcome you to use the shared living spaces (living and dining rooms) - while you're here it's important to us that you feel at home. Similarly, please feel free to use the kitchen and laundry; we just ask that you clean up after yourselves and leave them as you found them. We're also very happy to be flexible with our check-in and check out times and if you need something different to the stated times, just let us know and we'll see what we can do.

Interaction with guests

We work from home so there's usually someone here if you have any questions or would like to know our thoughts on Wellington's attractions, dining or nightlife etc. Also, if you find you need to contact us while we're not at home (or you're not here), we're usually available for you to call us for the information you need.

Other things to note

Access to the house is by either a path / steps or by our cable-car, as we're about 60' below the street level. If you use the cable car, you can rest assured that it's safe (it has a regular professional check-over and certification that it is) and it's certainly a lot easier (especially going back up to the street!) than the walk. It also can carry up to about 200kg, about two medium sized people and a small/medium amount of luggage. It's no faster than the walk, but far more fun!

A fun first Airbnb experience. Nigel and Paul were lovely hosts, very accomodating and even gave me a few lifts which was very kind. Bed was really comfortable and house very clean. Perfect location for the ferry and a good walk into the city. They also invited me for dinner which was great fun with great company. Really enjoyed my stay. Thanks guys :)

The place is well located not far from the city, calling an Uber to the city is reasonably cheap. The house is clean with a fantastic view to the port and to the stadium. The bed is nice and comfortable. Nigel is very friendly and helpful, providing a good breakfast. I definitely recommend staying in this place. I look forward to see you again, cheers.

A few steps down to the house but you are rewarded with magnificent views and gracious hosts. Long way to eateries (unless you have a car) so stock up before you arrive.

What welcoming and lovely people Nigel and Paul were! Accomodating and helpful hosts and also knowledgeable about their town. We thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent with them and would happily return whenever we have access to private transport as the bus passes the bottom of the hill which is quite challenging if you aren't somebody who walks often. Please note the listing where it says "probably not suitable for children" as while the cable car is quirky and lots of fun it is quite necessary unless you are VERY good with steps but it is open in places and can be intimidating at first. It provided endless entertainment to both us and our hosts the entire time we were there though! Quite the experience!

Hi, I'm Nigel - I'm originally from the UK, but have lived in Wellington for the last 12 years. I work in the arts and my partner, Paul, is a musician. It's a friendly, relaxed atmosphere here - a great location to access the city and fab views while you're here.
