A bright and airy New York style loft conversion on the top floor of a former whisky bond, this apartment has a lovely open-plan living space on the lower floor, and a magical rooftop bedroom which opens directly onto a large private roof garden with views of Arthurs Seat and the castle.

The loft is a idyllic haven only 10 minutes from Edinburgh city centre, with fantastic gastro pubs, Michelin Star restaurants and cafes in the scenic Shore area of Edinburgh right on your doorstep.

The space

A bright and airy New York style loft conversion on the top floor of a former whisky bond, this apartment has a lovely open-plan living space on the lower floor, and a magical rooftop bedroom which opens directly onto a large private roof garden with views of Arthurs seat and the castle.

Across two floors at the top of the old bond, the loft has a spacious living area with Togo sofas, Mourne Textiles accessories, Ron Arad pieces and behind the Modus room divider bookcase is a large dining table with a stunning Jurgen Bey Lightshade Shade above which creates a beautiful centre-piece to any evening spent at home. Hardwood floor throughout.

There is everything you could ever want in the professional kitchen - Smeg fridge, Seimens integrated microwave & oven, dishwasher, a second large Smeg range oven, and a white Italian marble topped island unit that creates an extra work surface as well as being a nice spatial divide between dinning and cooking areas.

We have a Brazilian slate tiled wet room & toilet, with double sinks in the bathroom and a custom-designed dressing area. In addition there is also a separate cloakroom toilet.

Up the spiral stairs, on the roof, is a large bedroom 'pod' with a double-bed, reading area & bookcases, and floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides allowing breath-taking views to Arthur's Seat and out onto the private terraced roof garden. At night there are soft lights in the palms trees and plants which create a lovely backdrop for evening drinks and relaxing outdoors after a day in the city.

With pieces from our furniture and design collection throughout the loft, there are all the creature comforts to make this your home-away-from-home while you stay here.

There is also a private parking space which we could make available for a small additional cost depending on dates/arrangements.

Guest access

It is very quiet and private, and not being overlooked yet being in the city is such a rare thing.

The views are perhaps the best bit about this loft! There is a private rooftop terraced garden that looks out over the rooftops of Leith, up to the city centre and the Castle, and Arthur's Seat. And, on a clear day you can see the sea behind the dock area in the distance.

Whether it's morning coffees or evening drinks under the stars, the rooftop and its views have to be experienced to be believed!

Interaction with guests

If you need anything during your stay I'm available via email or phone, and I have friends nearby if you need somebody here in person (if I'm not available).

My boyfriend and I stayed at Suzanne's place during a weekend break to Edinburgh to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday/our anniversary. From start to finish, Suzanne was the most friendly, helpful and accommodating host. She provided so many recommendations of places to go - all of which were amazing and just put the icing on the cake. The apartment itself is truly unique and a credit to Suzanne and her other half. We couldn't make the most of the roof terrace given that we were visiting in December, but I imagine it would be just gorgeous to spend time out there in the summer. Stunning views! The location is also absolutely ideal - super easy to get in to the city but we also adored the leith area itself. Very quirky and full of lovely restaurants and pubs. We will most definitely be visiting Edinburgh again - thanks so much to the wonderful suzanne for making it an even more special stay.

Gorgeous apartment in a fantastic area. I've never been anywhere quite like this apartment it was like a backdrop to a photo shoot or something you would see in a fancy homes magazine but somehow it still feels really homey and welcoming. The rooftop terrace adjoining the bedroom is such a beautiful setting to fall asleep and wake up in and the view is incredible. The area itself is full of life with so many places serving delicious food just minutes away on the picturesque waterfront. The centre of Edinburgh is within walking distance or just a quick bus ride away if you don't fancy the hill. Suzanne was a perfect host, meeting us and showing us around, offering some brilliant ideas for things to do in the area and giving lots of local tips. A completely lovely stressfree stay I can't recommend this apartment highly enough.

This was our first airbnb experience and I hope all future ones will be this good! Suzanne's apartment is as stunning as the view from her roof top terrace ! The living space is large and bright and the kitchen area has everything you could possibly need. Unfortunately I didn't get to use it as the area is full of great places to eat from quirky coffee shops, smart gastro pubs and Michellin starred restaurants. The apartment was very clean and warm with constant hot water and a very comfotable. Suzanne had prepared a great information booklet for those visitors new to Edinburgh. I hesitate to highly recommend a stay at Suzanne's apartment as it may not be available for our next trip to Edinburgh! Thank-you Suzanne for a lovely stay.

Suzanne was a faultless host and every eventuality and comfort was clearly well thought out and taken care of expertly. We stayed for three days and found the Loft to be a very useable and comfortable space. With so much to see and so little time we were out from sun up till sun down but returning to such a spacious and well equipped pied a terre was a treat. The photos don't quite do justice to the sheer size of the apartment. The shore itself is a very inviting part of Edinburgh to eat/drink/explore and with its proximity to the coast and castle I would heartily recommend it and the loft to anyone visiting.

We had a lovely time at Suzanne's loft. She was very accommodating for our last minute request and prompt in answering any questions we had. Location was very easy for getting around and the design was impeccable. Highly recommend!
