You’ll love our place because of the views and the location. Our place is good for couples and solo adventurers. This tipi tent was used for 10 days by John Denver on the continental divide ride. You can almost hear him singing "Rocky Mountain High" each night under the stars. Very easy drive west of Durango and a secluded/private setting . Bring your own bedroll and remember this is rustic living in a beautiful spot. Bathroom facilities are lacking. You will remember the nights you spend here !

Staying in the tipi on Gregg and Kathy's property was definitely a highlight of my roadtrip. Hearing elk calls and enjoying a fire under the starry sky was memorable and the tipi was cozy and sturdy. My favorite part was coffee and conversations in the morning with Gregg. I hope to meet Kathy next time I pass through Durango.

Ok, I don't really know where to begin, the pricing? The "tipi"? Gregg and Kathy, the host and hostess? I honestly don't know where to begin at all the great and wonderful things that happened there! I guess first things first. The price. $35? Pretty darned decent, if I do say so myself. But if y'all don't like camping it in an old school tent with a couple mats for padding on a hilly ground, but if you sleep just right it's kind of nice. Like an extra pillow, btw, if you have an Air mattress and your own bed roll, like they clearly state in the ad. Now Gregg and Kathy, wow! Awesome. Gregg stayed up past check in because I was a bit behind from traveling. And mistookaa the time change for when I would arrive. 100÷ My fault, and I am sorry! Gregg still greeted me with a smile, nice hand shake and showed me to the tent, and disappeared to his home until morning. The tipi was cool! Its like being in the oldschool boy scouts! Canvas ?/ Then the morning! We all had coffee with each ther and just had a wonderful conversation didn't seem like we had to try, they are just naturally good people. I'll honestly remember that night for a long time. Thank you!

Best camping experience I've ever had

Gregg and Kathy were kind, gracious hosts. The location is a reasonable drive to Durango. The site has privacy from the main house. They provided plenty of firewood. Initially we thought there was a burn ban but thankfully it had been lifted. If it's important to have a fire at your campsite you may want to check current burn restrictions. They offered coffee in the morning and it was delicious. My dog and theirs got along wonderfully and I think enjoyed each other's company. This is a simple, primitive campsite and if that's what you're looking for you can't get more peaceful and beautiful.

Simple tipi in a beautiful location. Tipi was smaller than others I've stayed in, but large enough for 2 to sleep comfortably. Mats were comfortable. I didn't have a sleeping bag and Gregg generously loaned warm blankets.
