Newly renovated in 2016, this is a cute Nantucket style coastal charmer. The interior features modern amenities, beautiful hardwood floors and period details. The outdoor living space is exceptional. Privacy, mature plantings in a multi-level landscape plan for outdoor entertaining. Convenient town location with easy access to Mill Hill Park. Very close to the bike paths, great for heading off into any direction on the island.

The space

Beautiful gourmet kitchen open to dining room, library tv room, living room with fireplace, and beautiful landscaped terraced grades. Upstairs master bedroom with brand new light-filled ensuite bathroom. Two bedrooms downstairs share an ensuite bathroom, connected with french doors. One has a full bed with twin trundle pull-out, and the other has a queen. Outdoor shower, deck, patio, outdoor dining, and large yard. Less than half a mile from Town center.

Built in 1822, this Quaker-style home has retained many of its original details. It is a traditional 3-Bay Quaker-style home with wide entry hall and a front parlor with fireplace. Den opens to a dining room that flows into the kitchen. A full bath is off the kitchen. A hallway leads to two bedrooms which share a bath. A rear door leads to a brick patio with a dining area garden, stone steps up to a private, separate yard for sunning or relaxing. Being on a corner lot this is an bright and sunny home.

Bedroom 2 is a full with a twin trundle pull-out.

Stayed here for a short break before the start of my daughter's senior year in high school. House is charming and tastefully decorated with lot's of nice "beachy" touches. The kitchen is modern and well designed, the landscaping is beautiful, the backyard patio is secluded and the outdoor shower is wonderful. It's a short walk to town which is a plus. There are beach chairs, board games, movies, etc. which are also thoughtful additions. There were three of us, but it easily sleeps six. We would be happy to rent here again.

Melanie Gowen User Profile

Melanie Gowen was born and raised in Washington, DC, but she has always had a love for coastal New England where her lifelong love for real estate began. She graduated from National Cathedral School in 2005 and from Cornell University in 2009 with a BS in Interior Design and Business Strategy. While at Cornell she studied International Marketing and Wines in Florence, Italy and was on the Sailing Team. After college, Melanie worked in financial consulting and gained experience in mortgage banking and regulatory strategy. Managing assets for clients, who often were entrepreneurs owning mulitple real estate assets, she became fascinated with the design and marketing as tools impacting the success of real estate and business. She returned to her architectural roots and founded Melanie Gowen Design, and branding and design firm. When the opportunity came to work on a full-scope investment property renovation in Nantucket, Melanie followed her lifelong dream to live on an island, amongst the most beautfiul properties in the world. She especially loves the melding of historic preservation and innovative design that presents unique challenges for renovation and building.

Melanie's passion for enhancing properties by incorporating marketing, design, and branding strategy into the process results in an unparalleled, personalized experience. She consults on real estate development, helping clients strategize on unique investment and design opportunities, and she can pull together the perfect team for any project. Detail-oriented and also a big picture thinker, Melanie is responsive, creative, organized, and adept at thinking both imaginatively and strategically.

Melanie loves being out in nature running, hiking, playing tennis, sailing or anything on the ocean. Her favorite Nantucket beaches are Dionis and Quidnet, and she makes bluefish pate from scratch. Melanie enjoys being an active member of the community, volunteering for the Nantucket Preservation Trust and Housing Nantucket.
