The Old School House is a self catering property in a beautifully restored historic property. It has unrivalled views of Liscannor Bay at top of hill just before St Bridget's Well. Just two miles from the cliffs, accessible for walkers. Great place for discovering all that Clare has to offer.
The unique Liscannor paving steps to the property have many tales to tell. Until the 60s it remained as a local school. Since then had been a home, hostel and more recently a recording studio (good acoustics).
This is a self catering, self contained home. You will have use of new kitchen and dining facilities. Perfect for home dining. The front of home has a sheltered area with views of bay for morning coffee or evening glass of wine. The rear is sheltered and private ideal for barbecues. There is ample off street parking for several card.
Interaction with guests
You will have use of facilities that does require some understanding of the domestic appliances to use. We provide a manual to understand how to use them. I have an apartment next door and may be there from time to time when I am happy to share/advise. Otherwise this property suits independent travellers that enjoy a private beautiful space with modern facilities. I have included all the things I like to have when on holidays. So there are sun loungers, TV and VCR incase of poor weather and proper kitchen facilities.
Other things to note
This is an old restored building. It has been modernised with heating and insulation. It is very cosy especially with stove lit. All the same it does not heat like a modern home so if you wish to have heating running all day there is an extra charge for excessive consumption that is monitored accordingly.
No smoking inside property, there is a sheltered porch for those that wish to.
I live in Ardee and have two daughters. I have been visiting Clare for 30 years and the last four years staying at the School House. It is a beautifully restored school built in 1848.
