Our place is close to the Republic, Mark's Kitchen, Roscoe's Pizzeria, Busboys and Poets, Olive Lounge, Sunday's farmers' market, the local food Co-op, and Sligo Creek. We are a green city. We live close to awesome playgrounds - Forest Park and Spring Park. We are easily metro accessible to downtown DC. Our place is good for everyone from solo adventurers to families (with kids). Our back apartment has a private entrance and an awesome tenant.
This is our home. We enjoy it and we hope you do too! Our house is a child friendly home, and we fill it with items we are not afraid to break. It is simple, easy and functional. Safety is of utmost importance to us, so fire alarms and fire extinguishers in the kitchen and upstairs hall are a must. So is the second story escape ladder in the boys room. Feel free to use the ping pong table in the basement and the various games in the upstairs bedroom. Feel free to read our books and use our spices, pots/pans and silverware. We have three air conditioners, two smaller ones upstairs in the bedrooms and one larger one in the living room. Our dining room table is intentionally low to the ground, with one large, super comfy chair and 7 small stools with a leaf available in the basement.
You have access to most of the house and all of the yard, including the side porch. You do not have access to the private back apartment. You do have access to the upstairs bedrooms - there are two formal bedrooms (one with two twin beds and the other with a queen-sized bed) plus a play room, off the room with two twin beds, that we sometimes use as a bedroom. It contains a double futon bed. You also have access to the upstairs bathroom, the downstairs living room and dining room, the kitchen and the basement. This space is essentially a full size house - the rental space in the back was a addition that was built decades after the house was built.
Interaction with guests
We'll be traveling, but we will definitely be accessible by cell phone. Our backroom tenant, Eleni, will also be available for questions and issues.
Other things to note
Note the back apartment has a tenant, a 19-year old student who loves kids and is very easy going, clean and responsible. Her back apartment has its own private entrance; however, she will share the kitchen (which is just off her room) and the upstairs shower/bathtub. She spends her days interning on Capitol Hill and the rest of her time (when not cooking or taking a shower) in her back room. She usually cooks a quick breakfast and dinner once or twice a week, and is very flexible about sharing cooking space in the kitchen. She will manage the house when we're gone. No loud noise after 10 pm. Use the trampoline at your own risk. Feel free to use the ping pong table in the basement! The washer/dryer is also in the basement. We have bedding materials and towels available for your use in the closet at the top of the stairs.
