My bedroom was clean and oh-so-spacious. The building is astonishing, a real old farmhouse, with a cavernous living room and a wooden staircase. There were fresh flowers on the kitchen table, and a beautiful olive grove on one side of the house. This meant the short walk into Assisi (up a steep hill) is like an immersion into the world of St Francis, who used to travel by foot and spent many days wandering outside the city walls. Yet this Airbnb was such a lovely home, it made it easy to visit the Fransiscan sites. I filled the kitchen well and felt as secure and comfortable as anything! Travelling is about talking to the people nearby, and I made some lovely experiences together with the other people who stayed in the Airbnb. By car, we saw the legendary Eremo delle Carceri. Though my car-owning friends also went to San Damiano and Rivotorto, I shall have to come back another time. By foot and bus, Assisi still holds much adventure! One other thing: I recommend the Restaurante Degli Orti (in a side street near to St Clare's) for a glass of house wine. Thanks for your kindness Danila!
What a beautiful place to stay! The house is comfortable, quiet and clean. The old city of Assisi is very close, just a short uphill walk through an olive grove. Danila was an amazing host, very kind and welcoming, with plenty of suggestions of things to see and places to eat. I will definitely be back to stay here again!
Danila's place was the perfect jumping off point for exploring Assisi and the surrounding area. It was an easy walk into town, and we appreciated having access to a well stocked kitchen and reliable Wifi. We hadn't realized that there were two rooms to rent, or that we would have a housemate during our stay. But we enjoyed the company and our stay. Highly recommended.
My journey to Danila's was a little interesting; my (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps took me to three different places until I found the right one, and upon arriving, Danila was not there... I actually had to get a hold of her via one of her neighbors, who was very keen to help find her! Due to technology issues, we finally got a hold of her, and Danila came straight over to open the house to me. Everything was very clean and organized, and because the room I booked was not available, Danila offered one of the other ones to me, which was fine! She also had a wide range of books and things on travels in Assisi, and the house was pretty close to the upper part of the town, but if you don't have a car like I did, be prepared for an uphill trek! Overall it was a comfy experience. :)
