Our house is located in a quite neighborhood 5 minute drive to White Flint metro station on the red line, Marriott conference center and Montgomery Mall. NIH is 2 stops away. Private room has an antique brass double bed with comfortable mattress. Large desk, smart TV 39" screen where you can stream programs from Netflix and Amazon. A small refrigerator. En suite bathroom for your exclusive use. Lots of light.

The space

Our house is colonial style. The room offered is on the second floor (16 stairs). The room and en suite bathroom have been newly painted and decorated. There are 3 windows in the room so it's full of light. The bed is antique brass and is full size. A comfortable armchair and a large desk so you can work comfortably. There is abundant closet space and a small refrigerator. We are artists and the room is decorated with our own work.
The bathroom is a full bathroom and has been updated. We provide 100% cotton towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash and other basic amenities.

Guest access

You can use the kitchen to make light meals. Also the family room if you wanted to watch TV on a larger screen. We have a washer and dryer that you can use.

Interaction with guests

We are happy to chat, give you ideas of what to see but also leave you to your privacy.

Other things to note

We have a cat named Gulliver and he traveled from Montreal with our daughter when she finished college there. He's very shy and hides when new people come to the house. We realize that some people are allergic to cats. We don't let him into the guest room but if you're really allergic this may not be a place for you.

We know that some travellers come to our area without a car. We are happy to pick you up from the metro station (5 minute drive) when you first get here. If we can we'll drive you there too. We can offer 2 bicycles and helmets if you wish to ride to the metro and leave them there locked. You can also leave your car in the metro garage and take the train. It's much easier than taking the car downtown.

Varda's house is in a quiet and nice neighbourhood, with lots of tress in the backyard. The room is spacious and clean. The kitchen is fantastic. Varda and her husband Richard are very friendly and helpful. We had great conversations. We enjoyed staying at Varda's house and appreciated the rare opportunity to see some of Varda's beautiful glass artworks.

I stayed with Varda and Dick for a month this July/August. I couldn't have asked for better hosts! They were welcoming and more than happy to help with anything: whether that be recommending things to do in DC or picking me up from the mall. They genuinely enjoy hosting and sharing their home (and their incredible cooking!). As a 20 year old girl, I felt extremely safe in their house and their neighbourhood. The surrounding area is very suburban with lots of wildlife and forests. There are tons of places to get food: both at restaurants or supermarkets if you want to cook for yourself. There is easy access to the metro which is approximately a 40 minute ride into the capital, and there is a great gym nearby. I would definitely recommend staying here if you're travelling to the area. I couldn't have asked for a better stay.

I enjoyed very much my stay at Varda's quiet, very clean and artful room. It is such a beautiful and luxurious home, surrounded with flowers, colorful art work made by artist, Varda. Perfect location. It is truly a first class stay, tranquil and beautiful! The most important is the host. Varda and her husband are SUPER nice hosts whose kindness, hospitality and generosity made me feel at home. They are such a nice and kind couple with a warm heart! They made my first Airbnb experience pleasant and memorable! I will definitely stay here again and I highly recommend Varda’s Airbnb.

We had a wonderful stay. The room was elegant. Varda and her husband went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. They went beyond..... our son's car broke down and he could not pick us up and they drove us to his apartment. My husband and I would highly recommend Varda's Airbnb
