The check in process went smoothly and the apartment was clean and quiet. It is centrally located in a great neighborhood. The space is really more like a hostel than other Airbnbs. There are six or seven guests, there are many rules, tons of cameras, and a general sense of di…
Response from Tom I:
Our house rules are for all guests' safety, quiet enjoyment and using the fresh clean bathrooms and the kitchen. The rate of the house rule breakers has come down dramatically with the rules explained in the check in orientation and the pop up reminders on the wall of the bathrooms and the kitchen. The rules were protecting Tony, too. If Tony can book a hotel for $89/night, that must be the better idea for him.
I don't usually leave Airbnb reviews but there were a few things I would have liked to know before booking the place that were not made evident from the listing or reviews: 1. At checkin, this host will ask you for your government issued-ID and your home address and require you …
Response from Tom I:
We check the guest's ID in order to make sure that the person checking in is the same person who made the reservation.. It's a common sense and that way every body feels safer and more comfortable than not being checked in the large shared space (Website hidden by Airbnb) Iris lied in her review.. We check the name on the ID (takes 5 seconds) but never get any ID numbers. We have no time in the check in time and we are not interested in doing so. Iris is saying she was not comfortable to show ID to the stranger (host ?) Who is the stranger in our house ?? There are several rules or reminders are put up on the wall for everybody's safety and quiet enjoyment. Most of these rules were suggested or requested by the guests. It's a pity that Iris did not/could not follow the recycling rule and threw a glass bottle in the garbage. She seemed not know/did not care that some body must pick up that bottle from the garbage and put it to the recycling bin so one of our staffs told her an episode of how NYC is strict about recycling. (recycling rule is on the garbage box, it's a pity she ignored it..) Iris put the dissolving detergent pack into the powder detergent place, in the result it did not dissolved, well, that type of the detergent should be thrown with the clothes but it's not big issue, she can do so from the next time, nothing to talk about in the review.. Our place is a share house.. so if Iris can not/does not like the share house, she should not book it from the first. Our house rules are clearly written in our listing from the first (Website hidden by Airbnb) or Iris has learnt a lot this time so maybe she will be a good guest next time in some other share house..
Welcome to NY. I am your host, Tom.
