You’ll love my place because it is comfortable, clean and cosy. Situated on the edge of a lovely Borders village close to all that the Scottish Borders has to offer.
A large and pretty garden perfect to relax in and enjoy the wildlife, and children or pets to let off steam. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets).

The space

Greenloaning is a delightful traditional semi-detached cottage situated on the edge of the peaceful conservation village of Allanton. With a large enclosed garden and wonderful views over the surrounding countryside it has been completely renovated and is traditionally furnished to a very high standard. It is very well equipped and offers full central heating as well a log burning stove. The cottage is perfectly located to enjoy all that the area has to offer including walking; golf; fishing; cycling; riding; the local historic houses and castles such as Alnwick Castle (Harry Potter), Bamburgh Castle on the beach, Floors Castle and Manderston with its silver staircase; the stunning coastline with the pretty harbour at St Abbs, and the lovely beach at Coldingham with its surfing facilities, as well as locally based quad biking, sailing, canoeing, and clay pigeon shooting etc. In the village itself, and a very short walk away, is one of the best local pubs/restaurants in the area serving real ales and wonderful food (and recently voted in the Times newspaper as one of the top 50 pubs for alfresco dining).
Please note that the stairs are quite steep and may not be suitable for the disabled.

Interaction with guests

If there is anything you need during your time at Greenloaning that we can do to enhance your stay please do not hesitate to contact us and we shall do our very best to facilitate this.

Other things to note

Allanton is a lovely village and perfectly located to enjoy all the Borders has to offer, whether it be the beaches, golf courses, or country homes and gardens etc. the village pub, The Allanton Inn, is fantastic and offers some of the best food and refreshments in the area. It can get busy at weekends so worth booking in advance.
Despite being located off the middle of the village, Greenloaning is very peaceful and is edged by fields on one side. There is a small children's playpark along the lane and the children can go there safely without having to cross a road.
Fishing for salmon or sea trout is available close by on the Whiteadder Water through Bluestone Fishing.
Bluestone Fishing cater for both the experienced fisher or the novice and are able to supply all equipment necessary if required, as well as offering angling lessons in order to make salmon fishing available to everyone.

The photos of Lowri's cottage look nice but it is even better in real life! It's very spacious and beautifully decorated with a lovely, homey feel that also has small luxurious touches like the bathrobes provided. The whole house is super well-equipped, with everything you need in the kitchen for doing as much cooking as you like (the welcome pack for breakfast was also very thoughtful and much appreciated!) and all the logs etc. were included for fire-making in the lounge, where there were also lots of games, DVDs and books. We were very lucky with the weather so enjoyed some time in the garden in the sunshine which was an utter delight and did lots of walking in the local area. Lowri was so accommodating and really went the extra mile for us, kindly putting the twin beds together to make an extra double as we were two couples. It worked really well, making two large and comfortable double rooms. I'm a bit of a shower snob (!) and was slightly worried about the shower from the photos but it was absolutely fantastic! Great pressure and lots of hot water. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place and hope we'll get a chance to go back for a longer stay. Thanks, Lowri!

Exactly as it looks in the picture. Really easy check-in and -out. Very nice house - huge, well-maintained garden. Really nice area. Close to Berwick - about 10 mins. Paxton House nearby was also worth a walk around. Very good value overall.

Lowri's cottage is lovely and cosy in a tranquil location. We travelled as a family of four plus dog and throughly enjoyed our stay at Greenloaning. The garden is beautiful and secure for the kids and dog to run around. We found the cottage to be very well equipped with everything we needed and more. We looked forward to snuggling up in front of the log burning fire on a night-time. Lowri was on hand when needed. Thank you from Faye, Steve and the rest of the clan.

Lovely wee cottage with great facilities. Loved the garden & the view from the bedrooms / living-room. Great for dogs - good circular route around Allanton starting close to the cottage. Local pub across the road has a fab beer garden with stunning views.
