Here's another angle. Aren't I cool looking? This is a big living room. TV with loaded Roku, great stereo with streaming, nice fake fireplace, seating for 6, a bar, some art, and so forth. Oh, and a massage chair.

Great check-in experience95% of recent guests gave this home’s check-in process a 5-star rating.

My place is a quiet home on a large lot in Travis Heights, one of the most convenient, distinctive, and appealing neighborhoods in Central Austin. Located steps from Stacy Park and its spring-fed large community pool, place is close to SoCo (6 blocks) Downtown (2 miles), Zilker Park (2 miles) Rainey St. (1.5 miles). It's the downstairs unit of a Duplex, but it lives like a house. I share the home with a German Shepherd named Marlo, who is a very good boy.

This is clearly a case of someone using AirBnb to supplement income with no real interest or regard for hospitality and comfort. There are many more options where hosts are happy to make guests feel comfortable. This is overpriced for what it is, and should be listed at $45-$65.

Response from Josh:
I'm sorry Leslie feels I had no interest in her comfort, nor was I hospitable. I have not heard those particular criticisms before, and frankly am puzzled. I made every attempt to make sure she was comfortable and to offer her advice, and ask if I could do anything to improve her stay. However, this is my home, I live in it, it's not a high end B and B or hotel, but it is in a high end location, and it's priced accordingly. . In regard to her specific critiques.: 1) the bathroom is shared, it's noted on the listing, and I shouldn't be criticized that she misread the listing. That's totally clear. 2) The bed is as pictured. 3) The rooftop deck was as pictured. I have no idea what she was expecting there. I didn't clean all leaves off there because that's psychotic,, and it is shared with people living upstairs.. 4) When she arrived (at 10pm, more than 7 HOURS AFTER SHE SAID SHE WOULD ARRIVE), I had made dinner and hosted a friend who had just left. I hadn't cleaned up from that yet. Yes, there were dishes in the sink and crumbs on the counter, because it's my house, I live there, and I cook and eat and so forth. By the time I went to bed an hour later, the kitchen was clean. There was never any raw ground meat exposed in the fridge. That's simply not true, and I have no idea what she's talking about. I'm sorry I didn't meet her expectations, but if your expectations are of something other than what's listed and pictured, and you expect me not to use my own kitchen kitchen and to be able to do surgery on all surfaces at all times, pick another place. I do my best, I had a maid come that morning, and clean my house. Please read this one with a grain of salt. Maybe she didn't like my politics, I don't know, but this is really bizarre criticism.

Josh was a fantastically accommodating host even with short notice. His space was clean and aesthetically pleasing, while having a big, sweet teddt bear of a dog to hang out with. I would recommend Josh to anyone seeking a polite and informative host for an authentic local Austin…

Josh is very nice and responsive and his dog is very sweet. I had initially booked this place for 3 nights but ended up leaving early due to the lack of cleanliness. There was dog hair all over the bedroom floor as if the floor had not been swept before check-in, the kitchen had …

Response from Josh:
I don't like to let people down, and will do better. I appreciate the feedback. However, they didn't tell me any of this, which gave me no opportunity to address their concerns. I have over 80 reviews as a host, and almost all of which are very different than this one. I hope anyone who reads it will take it with a grain of salt and know that I am chastened and will do better going forward. I do have a maid who comes, but I will increase her frequency, and would have had her come immediately if they has expressed any concern, which I did ask them proactively about. However 1) I have a large German Shepherd with hardwood floors. He will shed, especially in July, and continue to shed on an ongoing, even after I sweep/vacuum. There will be some hair on the floor, no matter how hard I try, unless there is no dog. 2) There no open cabinets in my house. There is a shelf in the kitchen, upon which I stored clean reusable kitchen towels. Nobody has ever said a word about them. Until now. I moved them. 3) The bar of soap was a locally made natural tobacco and leather soap, that other guests have complimented. It's sanitary. I can't speak to the bug, nobody told me, I didn't see it, and I have both an exterminator treat the home, and I do have traps. I'm sorry they didn't like my place and had a problem with the condition. I just wish they had been this honest with me from the start.

Great and affordable space that is within walking distance from South Congress and a quick $5 Uber to Downtown. Simple but perfect for a place to crash when exploring the city, and Josh and Marlo are great hosts!

I've been an avid Airbnb user for several years now, and have recently started hosting in Austin, where I moved from Southern California about 2 years ago. I have a day job working for a fast growing start-up and own part of a whole body cryotherapy clinic in Santa Barbara. O…
