My place is close to the Christiansburg Aquatic Center (.5 miles, you can walk!), Harkrader Sports Complex (2 miles), and the Virginia Tech campus (7.7 miles to Lane Stadium). You’ll love my place because of the open yet cozy spaces and its location!. My place is good for couples and families (with kids). This is my permanent home, but I'll leave and stay locally (so you can get in touch with me if necessary) when you're here. I hope you enjoy my home as much as I do!

Guest access

Most of the house is yours to use. I will lock a closet and a couple cabinets. And the garage is off limits to guests. Otherwise, make yourself at home!

Interaction with guests

This house is my permanent home. I'll stay elsewhere locally when my house is booked. I'll meet you upon your arrival to give you keys, show you into the house, and answer any questions you might have. I can give you directions and make some recommendations for stores, restaurants, and activities. Or I can leave you alone. Whatever you prefer.

Other things to note

Train tracks are about 75 yards from my house. I hear the train, but it's not disruptive and doesn't disturb my sleep. A very light sleeper may have some issues with the train.
I don't have cable tv. I use antennae on my 2 televisions. I get about 15 channels. But each tv has an HDMI cable, and free wifi is available. You are free to stream to the television from your own device and your own streaming account (whatever you've got--Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBOGo, ESPN, etc.).

Merrie was extremely responsive with questions before and during our stay. The house was extremely clean and spacious. Will definitely use Merrie again for future visits to VTech.

5 Star review for our second visit. Merrie's home was the perfect place for a family to gather to celebrate our son's graduation from Virginia Tech. The home is very clean and spacious. Several restaurants are within a 5 minute drive with easy parking and no reservations required. Loved the antique shop and book store a short walk away. Merrie was very thoughtful in providing us a little surprise in the fridge - a bottle of bubbly to celebrate our son's graduation. Highly recommended for football game weekends.

Very spacious and conveniently located house for any trip to Blacksburg or Christiansburg. Merrie was very helpful and provided an awesome place for our group of friends to stay for a VT football game. The house is very well kept and had plenty of room for what we needed. I would highly recommend this house to someone looking for a place to stay in the Blacksburg/ Christiansburg/ Radford area.

Merrie was extremely accommodating and flexible in letting us arrive and depart at the house. This is a lovely house with plenty of room and the amenities are exactly as described. We will definitely come back to this house. For anyone coming to Virginia Tech for a family outing or football game, this is a great location as it has easy access and is a significant upgrade above most of the hotels or other venues. Without a doubt this would be a good choice.

Everything was great! The house was nicely renovated and clean. It was just a quick 10 minute drive to VT. Merrie was also a great host. She was there to meet us and show us around the house when we arrived and had the air mattresses already blown up and ready for us. She was also easy to contact if we had any questions or concerns. We would definitely stay here again!

Merrie's Christiansburg home exceeded all of our expectations. It is a beautifully restored 2 bedroom from the 1800's. I particularly loved the wrap around porch and the Virginia Tech flag flying on a football Saturday. Her home is a short (about 7 mile) drive from campus. There are several shops a short walk from the home to include: antiques, books, toys, quilt shop etc. The home was spotless. I highly recommend staying here.

I work at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA as a learning and communications specialist for an international development project. I love traveling, college football (Go Hokies!), music festivals (bluegrass, Americana), reading and cooking. My travel philosophy is adopted from Rick Steves: go local and with the attitude that you will return to the destination (so don't jam in everything in one trip!).
