Cool place, well located, Bloor St W is a few steps away. Staff was nice. Common areas are cleaned every day. Only inconvenient: it can get hot in this room, no A/C, but the fan helps out.

The room was clean, basic and acceptable for the price. The lack of air conditioning was a surprise, but there was a fan in the room. I felt like a student again, which isn't all bad.

The location is great. The other guests were pleasant and courteous. This room,301/Bird@Bloor/Spadina in contrast with their other rooms, is quite small, has no dress and the bed is quite small. It was the middle of summer and the fan really was not sufficient to cool the room adequately. The hosts, though initially imperfect in their response to my needs, did, in the end offer me a credit for some of the inconveniences. I would stay with them again, only not in this particular room.

Total debacle! I was expecting a co-op home (I've lived in those before in SanFran), this building's layout is not a home; it is a student dormitory or a building initially intended to be a fraternity or sorority. There are bathrooms on the first two floors, but none on the third floor (where I was). According to another person staying there the office that manages the building is a 10 minute walk away. My initial arrival was fine, in part because other folks were arriving at the same time I did, but after I picked up the envelope with my keys and I got up to my room on the 3rd floor I discovered the keys I had been given did open the front door of the house they did NOT fit the deadbolt lock for my room (WRONG KEYS) but since the bedroom door wasn't locked when I arrived so I could still get into the room, but was leaving my stuff open to theft if left for any reason; and, the room had no air-conditioning like promised, only a fan and the room was VERY hot (top floor during a summer heat wave); and, there were no instructions IN the room or in my envelope on how to get onto the wifi. I literally went around knocking on doors till I found someone else who was home and awake, and got the password from them -- according to them there SHOULD have been a print out in my room with that information, but there was none. I txted the owner repeatedly asking first about the wifi and the lack of aircon, but to no response. Once I finally, after getting the password from another guest, I got my laptop on-line to find an email of the print out that should have been in the room (catch22 that, I had to get on-line to see password, couldn't get on-line without password).. the emailed instruction sheet included a phone number to call, but explicitly said NOT to use it after 9:30pm (I arrived at 10pm). The room next door was empty and had the door propped open with a brick, had keys in the lock and a window air-conditioning unit (seemed like the cleaning staff had not been in since the last guest, and it had dirty sheets). The other girl staying on my floor repeatedly suggested I should just strip that bed of it's sheets, replace them with mine, and just move into that room (it was approaching midnight and no one had yet arrived who seemed to be staying there), so I did. Next day when I called the office they were all apologetic, but it was a debacle
