The Stocking House is a beautiful 1802 farmhouse. It is situated directly across from the Goshen Fairgrounds, on 12 expansive acres, with an in-ground heated pool, manicured English gardens and four bedrooms. The town of Goshen is 2 hours from NYC and a short drive from restaurants, farmer's markets, antique stores, and hiking trails in Litchfield County. It is a comfortable, tastefully furnished home, ideal for couples, families, or groups looking for a peaceful, elegant country escape.

The space

The house is listed on the National Historic Register - it is a beautiful farmhouse built in 1802. It comes with a pool, 12 expansive acres of lush land, high speed internet access and a fire-pit (great for cooking on). Kitchen is fully appointed. Washer and Dryer in house. Linens and towels provided.

Guest access

Guests will have access to all areas of the house. There is a garage and space for parking multiple cars in front of the house. The barn is very old and, while pretty to look at, should not be entered.

Interaction with guests

Owners will be available by phone at all times and have a groundskeeper that can make visits if something comes up.

Other things to note

The house does not have AC but is very well insulated against both heat and cold. Nights are generally cool (in the 60's and 70's even in August) and fans are available in each bedroom.

Our stay in the Stocking House in Goshen was perfect. Not only was it just around the corner from the wedding we were attending, but the grounds and home were so beautiful. It was definitely a great experience for us California folk to stay at this beautiful farm home in Connecticut.

The Stocking house is absolutely beautiful, and even though I grew up in CT I had never explored the northwestern corner. The house, the gardens, the pool... everything was perfect. We had a truly relaxing weekend and I hope to come back again someday soon. Thanks for having us!

Home and location were very charming and had a lot of character and soul. Grounds were beautiful and outdoor dining table, pool area and lawns were fun to hang around and use. Home is old but in good shape, so not for everyone expecting a new & modern home. If looking for a rustic getaway in CT near Litchfield or Torrington, it’s a good spot to choose.

We had a great time as soon as we get adjusted with few issues. As there is no AC in the common areas, it can get very hot during the day, but we spend most of the time outdoors. The biggest issue for us was that the outdoor deck was really not well maintained, huge stones at unleveled positions, which were unsafe for kids and even adults. Also, the unusual large height of the step to enter the house was very uncomfortable to step on and it required extreme caution every time going in and out, especially if wet feet/shoes from the pool or when carried food to eat outside. The fire camp pit was great, but because there was no outside lighting, we end up using it only once. Also, there was a busy street right outside the house, so I was very nervous that our dog might roam onto the street and get run over by a car. Other than those issues, pool and outdoor space were great, bedrooms were spacious and have AC units in the windows.

My friends and I had a great July 4th weekend at Cassie's lovely country home. The property was stunning and even with the house close to a road, you feel as if there's no one around for miles. The heated pool was definitely the highlight and we spent our days soaking up the sun in the pool and adirondack chairs. Lots of nice touches in the house including sound system, well appointed kitchen with Ninja blender, and TV room. We were pleasantly surprised that there are window AC units in most bedrooms, which was great for the summer evenings. For groups, note that only one bathroom has a shower. It wasn't a big problem for us, but takes a little extra coordination. Would love to visit again and definitely recommend. Thank you for having us!
