We have a twin room with en-suite shower room pictured here and a double room advertised elsewhere on this website. We have the best of both worlds here – located in idyllic countryside with views of the South Downs, fields and a large wood on our doorstep. A fantastic area for walking, cycling, visiting many quintessentially English villages such as Alfriston and Lewes and the historic properties of Michelham Priory, Charleston Farmhouse, Rudyard Kipling’s home Bateman’s to name but a few. We are only 6 miles from the sea so you can visit the famous Beachy Head near Eastbourne, Birling Gap and the beautiful Cuckmere Valley. This really is an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which we would love to share with you.
You have access to our very light, airy and spacious conservatory for breakfast and to relax in in the early evenings. If you wish to bring in food, we can provide plates, cutlery etc. We can make you a packed lunch if you give us some notice! There is a table on the landing if you wish to write postcards home or use your laptop. Stunning views over the English South Downs countryside!
Interaction with guests
We are a friendly couple who love to make our visitors welcome. When you arrive, we will give you tea and scone and spend a few minutes with you to hopefully make you feel at home and to tell you more about what you can do round here. Our aim is to help you to relax and make the most of your break. If English isn’t your first language no problem, we speak French and some German and Spanish. You will have a key to your room and the front door so you are free to come and go as you please.
We have a delightful very friendly cat, so unfortunately we do not allow pets, except guide dogs. Smoking is not allowed in the house or conservatory, but you may smoke in the garden.
I am a real people person having worked with children and adults all of my professional life. My husband and I moved to this beautiful part of England because of the excellent countryside, walking and to be near to the gorgeous sunny south coast. Having lived abroad myself, I will always do my best to make you feel at home which is particularly important if you are visiting from another country. I speak French, some German and Spanish and have a love for many kinds of European food and culture. We have many interesting books on our shelves.
