This 360 degree panoramic Kona home is situated on the famous Mauka Trail & immersed 2000' up the mountain in the Captain Cook jungle where birds sing, frogs chirp, horses meander while light mountain rains create luscious landscapes. Located: 15 min. to famous Two Step Beach where the dolphins visit daily, 10 min. to grocery store & main highway, the hottest farmers market on the South Side of Kona, the best gelato & awesome restaurants, 25 min. to Kona town & about 45 to the airport.

The space

This dreamy, King-size Lanai (PATIO!!) bed is becoming a favorite for many. Fall asleep to the shining stars, the sounds of the crickets, occasional cicada or coqui frog, and wake up without an alarm to enlightening sunshine. Since it is right on the patio, it does Not have 100% privacy, but we provide a wicker divider screen. It has a big canopy bug net and, you have your own private 1/2 bath, but share the shower space with Sarah and Chantel.
*****Co-host Sarah has a 2014 Jeep Patriot that she can rent to guests for $40 to $60 a day depending on the day, and time of year. Message us for the Turo link! For car rentals a week or more, complimentary airport shuttle provided, otherwise $35 for one-way shuttle.

Guest access

You are free to use the whole house except for Sarah & Chantel's private rooms, of course! The property is also amazing to go for nature walks & runs!

We have an unlimited data Verizon Hotspot. Passcode is by the bed!

Washer & dryer only offered to guests who have booked a week plus otherwise our water is way to precious being on encatchment!

Interaction with guests

It all depends on you! If you would like to take us up on some adventuring, we're all about it! If you would like to come & go as you please, we are happy to give you your peace & privacy! However, we are very busy during the high-season right now, so we have less of our time to offer to guests and the more independent you are, the better!

Other things to note

Keep in mind our internet works off a Verizon Hot Spot that has unlimited access, although, can be spotty.

We thoroughly enjoyed being warmly welcomed into our enchanted space in the fresh mountain air, on the lanai overlooking sunlit ocean views and sleeping under the soft light of the full moon and breathtaking starry sky at South Kona Hideaway. Sarah and Chantel are generous, open-hearted, caring, attentive, impeccably honest, authentic and kind people who have gone to great lengths to become excellent hosts to travelers and friends. This is a rare skill, and it is obvious that they take pride in achieving a balance in paying attention to those they warmly welcome into their home, as well as giving space and time alone when it suits their guests' needs. Although they are hard-working, busy, talented women, they are more than happy to answer any questions and offer good advice in regards to the home, their land, and Hawaii. If they don't know the answer, they will find a way to connect you to someone who will. They both helped me to quickly and easily find the connections I came to Hawaii to make, including finding a great car to purchase and a comfortable home to live in, as I was in the process of moving to the Big Island. Their help has been invaluable to my daughter and I, and they were genuinely kind and loving with my child. She had a great time learning some acrobatic aerial skills with them- they have a cool set-up in their yard for tree climbing acrobats and their skills are inspiring! It's apparent they are dedicated students and practitioners of both amazingly unique performance arts and the healing arts they offer guests. The land their home is in is gorgeous, exotic and inspiring- perfect for ambling walks, meditation, and exploring beauty. The air is cool and refreshing. The home is spacious, pretty, and comfortable, with generous use of a large kitchen and bathroom. I had wi-fi reception and phone service most of the time, and had plenty of access to the laundry facilities for our needs. The bed is comfortable, and the lanai is beautifully decorated. The road up the mountain is long and winding, but really takes only minutes in a car- and for most people is walkable, with great stores, restaurants, and a post office at the bottom. I had a perfect experience renting vehicles from them at a very reasonable rate. They are trusting and trustworthy, and most importantly they are fun! I would stay with them again, and will recommend it to friends. Mahalo Chantel and Sarah!

The location is SO beautiful but if you're looking for something that will allow you to walk to coffee, shops etc this isn't it-you will need a rental car so plan for that or ask about renting a car from Sara. I gave it 3 stars for cleanliness but this is only because you are sleeping outside after all, not the hosts fault. Overall it was a fantastic experience.

Chantel and Sarah were very accomadating and easy to get along with. The place was fantastic, and while I harbored doubts about sleeping well, 1500ft up and fresh air does wonders.

My stay with Chantel was seemless. I chose to sleep on the lanai because I constantly wanted to be connected to nature while I was in Hawaii. The bed was gorgeous, comfortable and clean. I would definitely stay here again. Aloha!

Chantel&Sara were the most welcoming, loveable, sweet, funny and caring hosts that I've met. Their place was the most cozy and romantic getaway I could imagine. Sleeping outside on the terrace sorrounded by the voices of the nature, waking with the sun was just purely beautiful. The house is very well equipped, the garden and the view was epic as well. Stay here to get an unforgettable experience!!! Mahalo -a friend, a guest, a student

HOLA & ALOHA! My name is Chantel & I am currently a Circus Talent Agent & Show Producer who has lived in Los Angeles for 21 years & now I live mostly in Kona, Hawaii where I run a cirque-us arts center & host retreats up in the jungle!!! I also teach aerial art, fire dancing, massage therapy & am a professional mermaid, especially while living on an island with lots of marine life.

I love hosting & showing you my incredible city of LA when I'm in town & when we have a room available & our gorgeous tropical jungle two-story house up in Captain Cook, South Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. Sarah & I offer many other add-ons like massage, yoga, mediation & tours in our South Kona home.

Whether in LA or Hawaii, I have lovely professional roommates & these happy homes are definitely something special that I have hosted many, many people & friends from all around the world in. I have definitely taken pride in my homes & have put a lot of love into the decor & comforting things (like couches, pillows, warm comfy beds, bonfire pits, swings, outdoor lights & cleanliness). In way of the animal kingdom, in LA we house one cat & eight chickens & in Kona we have two mainly outdoor kitties & a few chickens (that provide us with daily fresh eggs) in the coop area up top of the property! I know you will love both homes!
