Unfortunately my stay at Annette's, with my 4 year old, was disappointing. Cons: There was a slight confusion when I made the booking and so Annette offered me a larger room at a higher price and with extra cleaning fee, but I replied saying I would stay in the smaller room, which I had booked, at the original price. She then communicated that she would upgrade me and waive any cost difference. However half way through my stay she demanded extra for the room and cleaning. I said that I had not agreed any extra costs and willingly moved to the smaller room. She asked me to clean the room myself, which I did. This apparent change of heart/ miscommunication was upsetting. Annette gets up early to walk the dog, so we were woken up at 6am everyday. The dog is friendly but likes to rummage through the rubbish. Annette runs her own enterprises from the house: French lessons and she bakes for a local market. This means the communal areas are not always available for guest use, especially the dining area and tiny kitchen. There was work being done to the patio while I was there and I didn't use it. We weren't provided with any towels or drinking water. Pros: The bedrooms and bathrooms were nicely decorated and clean. The bus to the beach stops right outside the house. Annette let me store a couple of bags for a weekend while I went on a trip. Overall I would recommend Annette's place, but only for an overnight stay and not a longer period.

Response from Annette:
A communication problem, indeed! You booked a small room and asked me if you could change to a bigger one. I informed you about the price difference. You wrote " I can't pay anymore " for me logical, because you already booked the small one. So I informell you, I could give you the bigger one. You stayed in my big room and blocked at the same time the small one. After3 days you changed to the smaller one. I offered you to clean the room on your own, if not I should charge you for the cleaning. (Normal is cleaning before and after the stay of a guest and not twice) It is right, I use the kitchen of my house every Tuesday for baking, sorry you had to wait 10 minutes. Each week I use the living room 3 hours for French lessons, if somebody asks me, I can change to an other room. An other communication problem: if you think there are no towels ( they are 2 in the wardrobe) or you think there is no water (there are 2x30 liter bottles in the living room ) why don't you ask? Me as well I was very disappointed : you left me a lot of trash, a sticky floor and a dirty wall that has to be painted again.

Annette was gracious enough to pick us up at the airport and welcome us to Mexico. She was very helpful sharing info about the area regarding public transportation etc. Staying in her neighborhood was a great way to be with the people, which are very friendly.

I had a pleasant stay while in Cancun. Annette was a very hospitable hostess and made me feel very welcome in her home. The location was also convenient to my plans for that weekend.

Our stay at Annette's was great. Lovely staying in a neighbourhood with a good local atmosphere. Everything was easily reachable with public transportation(very cheap!) and the house itself was beautiful and cozy. We would defenitely stay here again. :)

it was a great and enriching stay at Annette s place in Puerto Morelos Her house is in the part of the town where the Mexicans live and it is very easy to get to the beach by the public minibus. Annette has also bycicles to rent and she even offered me to lead me to different places by car.. Annette is a cheery generous and helpful host who knows the region very well and can give lots of interesting tips. She speaks excellently spanisch and supported me with the planning of my excursions, she knows very nice routes and unforgettable tours. The house is very bright, aesthetically arranged, cozy and clean. Shortly I was excited and I would like it very much to return there one day.

Great deal, great room, great lady. A clean bathroom that looked like no one had ever used it? A side entrance to come and go without waking anyone? Big huge air-pushing fan alongside the normal and expected ceiling fan. Nice touches and a nice stay. Would stay again without hesitation, and hopefully next time we'll plan to stay longer in Puerto Morelos instead of just passing through on a long 2 day drive. Annette seems quite knowledgeable about the area and we'd enjoy a chance to get to know here and the town she loves better. Thanks Annette!
