amazing view among the canal , with 3 metro lines just in front the building to enjoy this Paris for locals.

The space

The apartment is flooded with light and is open onto the Bassin de la Villette. It has been recently renovated and re-decorated in a New-York loft style - exposed brick, steel beams and waxed-concrete walls. The bathroom boasts an incredible view onto the canal and is equipped with a clothes dryer. The kitchen opens onto a vast living space and dining (email hidden)e kitchen is very well equipped with an oven, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave and all of the equipment needed to prepare a meal.

In the living room there is a convertible sofa which can sleep 2 extra guests. The bedroom is equipped with a double bed with a very comfortable mattress (160x200). The enormous advantage of this bedroom is its large closet with plenty of space to hang clothes.

In both the bedroom and the living room you can adjust the light settings to choose your ambiance. There is WIFI connection and a high end sound system.

As for the area, you could not be more spoilt for choice. During the summer, the terraces of Stalingrad such as "'(" and 'La Rotonde" organise plenty of events and live music. All of the action of the Paris Plages are also at your doorstep.

Situated right on the Bassin de la Villette, this apartment is in the prime location for enjoying all that Paris has on offer. The apartment is so calm and quiet with an astonishing view onto the Bassin. It is surrounded by parks, shops, events and all of the excitement of Paris.

During the summer the Rotonde and the ‘45˚Est’ terraces of the Place Stalingrad stage a wide variety of events. The renowned ‘Paris Plage’, a sandy beach on the banks of the Canal, and the ‘104’ arts centre is just steps away. Just two metro stops to the north you will find the Cité des Sciences de la Villette, with its large park where there open air cinema screenings and free concerts.

Near Bastille, in the south, is the ‘Hotel du Nord’ district, with its boutiques, typically Parisian bars and restaurants, perfect for a stroll to discover the real Paris. Along the Canal Saint-Martin you will find lots of bars and fashionable clubs. A little further on , and well worth a visit, are the Marais, the Place des Vosges , Victor Hugo’s house and the Carnavalet Museum.

There are three metro lines right by the apartment:

Line 2 (direction Etoile Champs Elysées), for the Sacré Coeur;

Line 5 for the Grande Halle de la Villette, the Gare du Nord, the Gare d’Austerlitz and the airport Roissy Charles de Gaulle and Bastille ;

Line 7 for the Cité des Sciences, Opéra, the Louvre and rue Moufftard.

Buse routes 54 and 48 are also close by.

The large, hilly Parc Buttes Chaumont is a wonderful place to relax and take in the views across Paris.

Within 200 metres there are: a supermarket, a ‘Bio’food shop, two large cinemas, restaurants, two boulangèries, a florist and lots more beside.

The ‘Velib’ station for bike hire and parking is near the entrance to the building. The owner can also loan a Raleigh bike, for those who may wish to cycle further afield. As the author of a guide to activities in Paris, he would be delighted to advise guests on events and activities happening during your stay.

Beautiful, spacious appartment. Very light thanks to the large windows. Well equipped, the kitchen had everything we needed to make simple meals. Excellent location, metro station right outside. Lots of bars/cafes etc in the area. Comfortable, quiet and secure. Check in and out were very smooth, excellent communication with Jacques.

Jacques place is very cool! I loved the way he uses different materials wood, brick, metal in the decor. I'm into mood lighting as well, so the different lighting options in the apartment were really nice. As Jacques said in the description, you couldn't be more conveniently located to the metro. All in all, this is a great location. Very easy to move about the city from here. The place was spotlessly clean too. I would stay here again.

We had a great experience at Jacques place, especially because of the really convenient location and all the recommendations in the little booklet. The apartment is just like in the pictures, spacious and with a beautiful view of the canal. There was everything we needed in the apartment, including an umbrella, a shopping bag, etc. The communication and check-in was also very easy, even though I had no phone at the moment. Thank you Jacques for sharing your place and your recommendations of the area!

This great little apartment was perfect for me to spend a week hanging out in one of my favorite off the beaten path districts in Paris.

Really great spacious apartment in my favourite part of Paris. Great community and beautiful spot on the canal with lots to do if you want or just chill in beautiful scenery. Jacques was a fantastic host, I wish I wouldn't have been on a business trip so I could have had time to enjoy all of his tips - everything from where to buy a good baguette to things to do and see nearby, priceless advice. Mostly I just enjoyed coming back to the place after a long day popping into one of the nearby restaurants for dinner and then watching the rest of the evening pass by over the canal from the sofa in the apartment. For me it was perfect.

Great view. Metro station right outside the door. A few stops to the louvre and city center. A small supermarket down the building which was very convenient. Host was very friendly and helpful with useful tips when we arrived. The flat was ok. House furniture kind of old but I guess that's expected in Paris.

I stayed in Jaques's apartment with my parents for nearly a week and it was overall a wonderful experience. The place is cozy and well-equipped. The kitchen is totally functional with all essentials. The drying machine is especially helpful in rainy days. The neighborhood is lively and convenient. The exit of metro line 7 is right in front of the door and supermarket across the street. Jacques met with us and provided a lot of useful information. I would definitely recommend Jacques' apartment if you are looking for a homy place to stay in Paris.

I am Parisian-born but have always remained fascinated by the city. I am an author of a guide about things to discover in Paris. I would be delighted to recommend some activities for you in relation to your interests, whether they are cultural, nature, going out, etc.) My mantra in life is one of John Lennon's quotes:
"Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans."
(Although I am always on time for my meetings and arrangements! This is more a metaphysical mantra than a practical one.)
