Beat the heat and humidity of Hilo and Kona and come experience a cooler elevation of the Big Island that will give you the comfort needed as you unwind from all your adventures from the day.
Our charming 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom home comfortably sleeps 4 guest with the option of a sofa sleeper for 1-2 people. With just a quick drive to town (Hilo) and Volcano National Park, our location is perfect for those who want the experience the true meaning of living the Hawaii Life.

The space

Our home has a very inviting feel when you enter. The peace of stepping in the door after a long day of travel and adventures will welcome you every time.
Original hardwood floors throughout, high ceilings and a open kitchen/living room area is what you have to look forward to. Our home is in a beautiful neighborhood with respectful neighbors. Take a morning stroll with the early risers to enjoy the fresh, crisp air and the sounds of Hawaii and end your evening with a visit to Volcano National Park to see the Lava excitement that is nearby.
Mountain View is a beautiful small town that is the gateway to Volcano National Park, however it can also be cooler and rain more than expected for Hawaii. *Please be prepared for cooler nights in home our out exploring.
Home is 20-30 minutes south-west of Hilo. Making it convenient to drive to town for shopping, eating, enjoying the beaches or exploring the beautiful waterfalls that the Big Island has to offer.
West of our home, past Volcano National Park, there is a beautiful winery and a short drive continuing west is the famous Black Sand Beach and Green Sand Beach! Don't for get to stop at Punalu'u bakery on the way and have a snack (I highly recommend trying a Lilikoi Malasada).
Please note that Hawaii is one of the lucky states that is able to conserve water through catchment tanks as our way of a water system due to many homes not having access to county water due to being "rural". This is a way of living to many people throughout the state. Our catchment system is filtered and is safe to use as many systems are in Hawaii. Catchment water is used for showering, washing dishes and normal daily functions. It is advised that catchment water not be consumed for drinking. We provide spring water for you during your stay for drinking and preparing meals. Due to drought (continuous throughout the year) we do ask that you conserve all the water you can during your stay. Minimizing water use (while doing dishes, showering/hygiene, etc.) is greatly appreciated.
Electric fans are provided for use on those rare hotter than usual days (uncommon), and a dehumidifier for use on those damp days if needed.

Guest access

Please feel free to enjoy the living areas of the home. I do ask that you do not use the garage due to safety concerns. If found that garage is used, may result in termination of stay.
Laundry room is yours to use. Cleaning supplies and laundry soap are not available for use. Guest subject to charge if cleaning supplies are used.

Interaction with guests

Due to flight arrivals, exploring and shopping prior to check-in, we offer self check-in. Guest will be given instructions regarding check-in and check-out the week prior to your arrival date. However, if you prefer host to be present during check-in please schedule with host prior to your arrival. Interaction through Airbnb is preferred due to possible conflicts with phone service availability or international calls.

This option is available for those days, parent may need a little time to themselves or if you would like go adventure off and your children may not be of age for the adventure. We do ask that you care for our home during your stay as much as you would want someone to care for yours while you are away. This is greatly appreciated.

Guest may enjoy the following living areas (living room, kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and laundry area). Enclosed garage area is strictly prohibited. $150 charge will apply if host is aware of guest using the garage.

It is preferred in Hawaii that you do not where shoes in homes. Although this is something hard to adjust to, we do ask that as much as possible please do not wear shoes in house to avoid scratching of wood floors and tracking in mud, rocks or sand.

If items are missing, broke or damaged, deposit may be subject to charge. Please contact host at earliest convenience, to make the host aware and so we can arrange for its replacement or repair. If you do not notify host upon notice or before you leave you are subject to be charged full price for damage.

Please do not leave any food out (inside or outdoors) that may attract uninvited pests or animals. We do our best to keep our home pest free and appreciate your help. During hotter days, insects will find their way inside to search for water/food. Please contact host to make aware if this becomes a concern.

Events can be held with a limited amount of guest. Please arrange event details with host prior to booking your stay.

No smoking allowed in the house or on the property of our home. Please walk to the street if you must smoke and dispose of your use in a proper way, not harming our home or neighborhood. An automatic fee of $150 will be applied as rules of home have been broken. An extra fee of up to $150 charge will be applied if the home smells of any use of smoking or cigarette butts are found on the property. This is strictly enforced, and will not be tolerated.

You are subject to charge up to $150 for any excessive amount of cleaning needed after your stay. Examples, sand or rocks brought into house, excessive amounts of trash left out and not thrown into proper trash bins, sanitary, stool or biohazard items left out and not disposed of in a proper way.

No more than 6 guest allowed. A charge will be added of $100 per person for extra guest.

Due to water drought on the Big Island it is asked that you limit all water supply. This meaning please be aware of water use when washing dishes, taking showers/bathing and doing laundry. Please make smart choice and monitor children as they may not be aware of use.

The house was nice and spacious for us, parking space was also enough. Inside the house, there were everything we needed, silverware and china, driers etc. Location is near to National volcano park and near to Keaau Shopping Center(30 min by car) at the same time. There are many restaurants and shops so we can eat dinner and we can buy some groceries at Keaau Shopping Center. Next morning, we could go to Panaewa Rainforest Zoo which was 30 min distance and we could go to Hilo Airport since we had to fly to Honolulu. Thank you, Linda.

Horrible stay here, towels & sheets provided are very dirty, seems already used by someone prior to our check in, Whole house is having paint smell as the construction was going on the back side of the home which was not aware to us. Not listed in the posting as well, no food extractor in kitchen, don't suggest this place
