My place is close to Purgatory Ski Resort nestled within the San Juan Mountains, and it is 17 miles north of Durango itself. You’ll love the views, the outdoors space, and the elegant ambiance. The accomodation is great for couples, solo adventurers, business folks, and families up to 6. Kids must be 8. I particularly think it is a wonderful spot for a honeymoon or anniversary celebration!

The condo has been updated with granite countertops in the kitchen and stainless steel appliances.

The space

This updated and elegant condo is situated at High Point in Tamarron Resort just 17 miles North of Durango and is surrounded by natural beauty on all sides. It is ideal as an active vacation headquarters for 1-2 couples or as an incredible location for honeymooners. Kids are welcome and games and toys are provided for quiet evenings before the fire. Kids must be over 8, and maximum overnight occupancy is 6 people. The kitchen has granite countertops and stainless steel full-sized appliances and is fully appointed, including a new Keurig coffee maker. The living area features a high end leather sofa from Bassett, real wood flooring, and a deck overlooking a luxury golf course and mountain vistas. A large mastersuite has a new king-sized therapedic mattress and a washer/dryer unit in the closet. A blow dryer is provided. The second bedroom has a queen sofa bed which has an adjustable pump for customized comfort. There is also a brand new Serta queen-sized air mattress with a pump mechanism that prevents air leakage during the night, ideal for kids.

If winter is your season, a free shuttle will transport you to Purgatory Ski Resort in 10 minutes. There is also nordic skiing, dog sledding, snowcat skiing and snowmobiling.

The warmer seasons afford an abundance of attractions including the Durango-Silverton Narrow Guage Railroad with a stop very close to the condo, hiking, biking, fishing, rock climbing, horseback riding, kayaking, canoing, and many others. The Music in The Mountains festival provides concerts throughout the area during the Summer.

Tamarron Resort has been recently renovated and offers a spa with a large pool, 2 hot tubs, a steam sauna, and massage and facial services. Tamarron is also a gateway to the San Juan mountains and near two lakes, Havilland Lake and Electra Lake.

The small city of Durango boasts more restaurants per capita than San Francisco and is home to Fort lewis College. It can't be beat for its openness and charm. Please see my links for more information on these attractions.

Come experience the sense of freedom and relaxation that this wonderful location offers!

Guest access

Guests have access to the condo itself, the fitness center, the lending library of books and videos at the lodge, and a nearby area that has an ice machine, laundry equipment, and a coke machine. PLEASE BE PREPARED TO PAY A $25/NIGHT FACILITY FEE TO TAMARRON LODGE UPON CHECK-IN. This is required by Tamarron Resort and is NOT at my discretion. The condo has its own laundry equipment and ice maker. The pool is closed for repairs so the facility fee is $20/night for now. A new restaurant is open onsite and we will soon have a brand new pool and fitness room, plus access to the golf course and tennis courts! Purgatory Resort is open for skiing now, and additional snow is expected soon!

Interaction with guests

I am usually available by email during waking hours, and can be reached by cell phone if the matter is urgent.

Other things to note

There are many things to do in the Durango area, including hiking, biking, alpine and nordic skiing, fishing, hunting, golf and others.

Very nice unit, but don't expect adequate sleeping arrangements for 6. There is a nice sized master bedroom, but the other accommodations are a pull out couch in an open Loft that's not air condition, and a blow up queen size mattress for the last two. This is better suited for a family of two or four.

Response from Kathie:
The photos of the condo are completely reflective of the sleeping arrangements. Everything was as advertised. Many groups of 6 have stayed in the condo over the past year and no one else has made a complaint. Having said that, I do believe it is more comfortable for 2-4 people or 6 folks which include kids that don't mind adjustable accomodations. The only adequate space for the air mattress is in the living room. The guest should have had access to instructions about how to arrive at the condo, how to check in, etc. Airbnb is the least helpful platform for getting our my Welcome manual. I have to email it individually to people since no link is provided.

We loved staying at this gorgeous home! It was clean, modern, well-equipped, and comfy! We especially loved the back porch overlooking the trees and the Mountainside. Jimmy loved to watch the hummingbirds :)

Kathie is a wonderful host! The condo is located on a golf course with a beautiful view off of the back deck. Very spacious and more than enough room for me and 3 friends. We had such a good time we had to extend our stay an extra night and the communication with Kathie couldn't have been better!

This home was stunning! The pictures posted didn't do this vacation home justice! The owners spared no expense on the updated renovation of this condo, from the upscale furnishings, to the nicely appointed amenities, and amazing views!! We had such a wonderful experience here. Our host Kathie was quick to reply with any questions or concerns that we had... Would definitely recommend this property, and we will be back!! Kathryn, and Jeff

My name is Kathie Allen and I am a family physician still working part-time in Salt Lake City, UT. My husband and co-owner is Craig Fineshriber, a retired Utah Symphony Musician. We both enjoy the performing arts and indulge in the occasional trip to New York for a culture fix. I sing in two singing groups: Mountain Jubilee Chorus, a women's barbershop ensemble, and Darena Womens Balkan Choir, which I direct. I am fairly fluent in French and continue to study it with a private tutor. Fitness is important to me and I enjoy outdoor activities and keeping my garden lush and beautiful. As a host, I am always thinking about details of what makes us happy when we travel. Things like adequate trash recepticles and tissues matter because after staying somewhere for several days, one begins to notice the convenient placement of such things. I have tried to make this condo a combination of comfort and sophistication. You are unlikely to meet me in person because I live in a neighboring State, but I am very responsive to queries, especially through email, and am here to help you settle in and enjoy your Durango visit.
