Comfortable guest bedroom (double bed) with private full bath offered in small cottage-style renovated home in SE Portland. Convenient to many bus lines, 20 mins. from downtown, walking distance to restaurants & shops in Division and Hawthorne Districts, 2 miles fr Reed College.
As my many reviews will attest, I offer a very comfortable, inviting home to my guests in a location that is easily accessible to many of Portland's eclectic neighborhoods and to the beauty of Mt. Tabor less than a mile away...
Free wi-fi access, laundry facilities, use of fully-equipped kitchen, rarely used living room with TV, Apple TV with access to HBO & Netflix, stereo and DVD/CD player, as well as secluded outdoor patio & garden (in summer months). Host also has an extra bicycle, lock and helmet for those who may be interested in cycling in Portland, or you might consider using Portland's Biketown bike/share system (closest location 1 mile away).
Interaction with guests
Since I am recently retired from a career in legal administration, my schedule is fairly flexible and I can be available as much or as little at my guests might desire. I stay quite busy with a variety of volunteer work, and when I have guests and am home, I typically spend most of my time in the master suite in the evenings. I am a fairly active city cyclist (used to commute by bike to job downtown for more than a decade), and I am well acquainted with safe city biking areas, area bike trails, walking routes, hikes in the city as well as nearby Columbia Gorge and with XC skiing and snow-shoeing areas in Mt Hood National Forest. I am more than happy to share my experiences and recommendations to guests who wish to explore the area's many natural wonders or how best to navigate the city using bikes or public transportation.
Other things to note
Upon request, host is happy to provide for solo guests "continental" breakfast items (cereal, yogurt, fruit, toast, juice, coffee) at no extra cost. Note also that while my listing is for a maximum of 2 guests, and the maximum single stay can be for as long as 30 days. Given the cozy size of my home, I've learned that solo guests have the best experience for longer stays.
My home has been inspected and is licensed by the City of Portland (Permit # (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)-HO)
There is a strict no smoking policy in the house. Guests are expected to be reasonably neat, respectful and relatively quiet, although there is a good separation of space between master bedroom suite (where host spends most of her time) and remainder of the house, so sharing space is pretty easy and non-intrusive. Guests who use the shared kitchen to cook meals are asked to thoroughly clean up after themselves. Communication is key to an easy, workable sharing of space in my home, and I'm happy to accommodate guests' schedules.
