I've lived in Vermont since 1996 and I'll never live anywhere else. I am so at home in our small village and grateful that the cool town of Brattleboro is nearby, as are ski areas, trails, and waterways.
Please note that my rates include breakfast, taxes and cleaning fees. We have wifi and cell service for most carriers.
Two clean, attractive rooms with private bathroom (shower, no tub), and a southern view over looking the Rock River. One finds a double bed, small dining table, fridge and microwave, shelves, dresser and closet in the main room and two twins, one of which is a trundle bed, a desk, coffee table and chairs in the back room, a cozy renovated attic. Ours is a comfortable early 19th century Southeastern Vermont village home set back from the road among woods walks and sweet country roads--perfect for strolling, biking and cross-country skiing. Kitchen access for long-term stays. Free Wifi; cell service; ample parking. Y
ou'll find a couple shops and eateries in Newfane village a few miles north and many in Brattleboro, twelve miles south; Mount Snow is 20 minutes west and Stratton is 40 minutes north. We're a warm and quiet household--a conveniently located and peaceful retreat. Pets are fine if housebroken. Special rates apply for long-term stays. Rates are lower in mud season and the 9% Vermont room tax is included in the room rate.
NEW! We now have our very own cafe in the village open Thursday through Sunday nights. It's called "The Eatery." The food and atmosphere are GREAT!
You're welcome to the front porch, and, of course, to the two rooms in your spacious suite.
Interaction with guests
I love to offer tips on what to see and do --depending on your interests and wishes. I'll happily sent you off for your day with a full breakfast and an annotated map!
Other things to note
Bring your bikes and, in warm weather, your swim suits; in winter, your X-C skis, We have several great rides and swimming holes nearby. And many lovely walks and hikes, too. Remember the fridge and microwave! Bring snacks and more if you're so inclined. My cats, Huck and Zooey are a collective piece of work: If you want to play with them, they'll lap up the attention. Or I can keep them sequestered without hesitation.
An English and Theatre teacher/director at a small rural high school, I'm an avid traveler and writer who loves to bike, ski and hike. Vermont is the best place for the likes of me, especially when one enjoys fresh air, no billboards, many places to explore – indoors and out, beautiful landscapes, interesting people and engaging interactions. I've traveled to myriad places, but I'm always happy to come home to Vermont.
As an Airbnb host, I welcome guests as I like to be welcomed when I travel. I like to give you privacy, lots of space, the chance to chat if you wish, tips on how to make the most out of your visit-- if you want them, peace and quiet, and a hearty breakfast.
I believe you really can't learn the world until you experience it firsthand. That's why I love to travel and why I've eagerly welcomed visitors from Denmark and Germany to California and Utah. I welcome you to come learn Vermont.
