We are located in the beautiful Santa Fe Historical East side district within walking distance to Canyon Road restaurants and art galleries, and only a 5 minute drive to the Plaza. Casita Encantador is in a unique part of Santa Fe, nestled directly above the Santa Fe River providing a lush view of Sun and Moon Mountain. We are 350 yds. from Upaya Zen Center, a short drive to Ten Thousand Waves, Santa Fe Photographic Workshops, St. Johns College and The Santa Fe Institute.
Spencer and I welcome you to our casita in Santa Fe. This adobe was lovingly built with the hands of Spencer and myself and a few fabulous local artisans. If you have never stayed in an adobe home, you will have the wonderful experience of "being held". In addition, it's an amazing insulator so no matter what the weather outside you will always be at a comfortable temperature inside. One will appreciate hand plastered walls, custom tiles, and a custom built hutch with a mini fridge inside. We offer our guests freshly brewed coffee or, if you prefer, there is an electric kettle with an assortment of complementary organic teas. The bed is made up with a down comforter and pillows along with plush towels for the shower. We are sticklers for cleanliness, so even the duvet cover is washed prior to your arrival. We feel it important to let our guests know the shower, as custom-tiled as it is, is a single stall (30"x27"). The casita itself is 300 sq. ft. The bank of windows allows for a bright and airy room with views to Sun and Moon Mountain. Dark room blinds allow you to sleep as late as you want. Summer mornings on the patio is the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea while you enjoy the diversity of birds and cool summer morning breezes. We are in a very lush part of Santa Fe, with the Santa Fe River below us offering a canopy of trees. It truly is an enchanting space.
Hosts live in main house but the casita has its own private entrance and private patio. You will have access to the entire flagstone patio off of the casita and main house.
Interaction with guests
Spencer and I are here for you should you need recommendations for restaurants, places to hike, planning cultural destinations, or simply hanging out as the locals. First and foremost, we will be giving you your privacy, so if you want our interaction, we invite you to our back door anytime, or if you are more comfortable to call or text, our phones are always within ear shot.
Other things to note
We are a stone's throw from the Upaya Zen Center offering daily meditations and weekly dharma talks. We are close to St. John's College, The Santa Fe Institute, and the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops. We are just a 5 minute drive to Museum Hill offering some of the best museums on Native American arts and culture, folk art, and Spanish colonial art.
Walk along the Santa Fe River to the Tea House on Canyon Road to enjoy a cup of chai and then continue exploring Canyon Road's art galleries. Our casita is close to downtown, yet feels serenely rural.

~SERVICE ANIMALS: Please notify us at the time of booking your intention to bring your service animal. We do not allow 'Companion Animals" but only trained service animals. Before we approve your request, we will ask you a couple of questions we are legally allowed to ask under the Americans with Disability Act policy rules. (1) Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? (2.) What work or task has the dog been trained to perform? It is our policy that your dog be with you at all times when leaving the property. We insist that the dog is leashed at all times while on the property. The driveway area is the designated area to relieve your dog. Please do not allow your dog to defecate or urinate in the gardens. We ask that you clean up and dispose of all waste from your dog either on or off property around the neighborhood. If your dog does not display behavior as a trained service dog or is left unattended on the property at any time during the day or night, it is our strict policy to ask you to vacate the property. Once we hear back from you regarding the above questions and you agree to the house rules on bringing your service dog, we will go ahead and pre-approve you. We apologize for the strict policy but you can imagine way too many people take advantage of the ADA policy on allowing dogs in public places.
