Situated in a family-friendly, though pretty hip & happening neighbourhood not far from the historical centre, our 120m2 house is an ideal starting point for trips into the city. Several restaurants and bars, two city parks and a shopping centre are within a 5-minutes-walking distance. Our top floor offers a lovely view and contains a small balcony. Due to our 1-year-old, our house is well-suited for small children. A little one can sleep in our son's cot.
Our apartment is on the second and third floors of the building. (For Americans: the third and fourth floor). It's suitable for 4 adults and we have room for 1 small child.
The top floor is one bright space (60m2) which includes the living room and the kitchen. There is also a small balcony with seats and a small table where the sun shines from morning until about 15h. (Because the bedrooms of the neighbours are right next to it, you can't have a late night conversation on the balcony.)
Downstairs are a large bathroom, a separate toilet, a small laundry room, a study, a bedroom with 2 single beds, a bedroom with a double bed and a children's room with a cot, plus another two balconies. (The tiny one facing the street catches the sun from about 16h.)
You can use our wifi and watch Netflix on the television in the living room. (We traded the 1990's television set you can see in some of the pictures for a modern Samsung recently...) We also have quite a lot of English books you can read during your stay.
If you're staying in our place, it means that we are not around. So you can use all the rooms in the apartment.
Check-out time is set on 11.00h, but if we don't have new guests on the same day it's no problem if you stay a bit longer. Check-in time is set on 'flexible'. Depending on whether there's an overlap between guests, we need more or less time to prepare the house. If there's no overlap, you can check in from 11.00h.
Interaction with guests
During your stay we will make sure that we are perfectly reachable by phone. Of course we will do our best to solve any inconvenience as quickly as possible. Often the immediate neighbours will also be available to take care of (urgent) matters. However, we are the first ones you need to turn to if anything comes up.
No talking on the balcony late at night!
And of course you should make sure you're not bothering our lovely neighbours in any way. :)
From Amsterdam, born in 1983, got a degree in urban sociology from the University of Amsterdam and recently graduated on teaching dutch language and literature in high schools. Matthijs, also from Amsterdam and a graduated philosopher, and I have been together for years now and in june 2015 our extremely cheerful son Jonas was born. So, family life has begun... (Hopefully we'll still have plenty of opportunities to make cool and interesting trips!)
