Other things to note

Here are some tips for day tripping in the South of Puerto Rico:

Ponce City- Just 20 min from our place, it is the second largest city in Puerto Rico outside of the San Juan’s metropolitan area. Known locally as the ‘The Pearl of the South’, offers historic districts, culture and nightlife, shopping, great food, art and museums, parks and plazas. Local sports include baseball, basketball, golf and tennis. Ponce also offers casinos, salsa dancing and live music venues and theatre.

Salinas Town- Just 20 min from our place, is a small seaside town with small marina and mangrove lined bay. Several excellent seafood restaurants located overlooking the Caribbean sea. The menu typically includes a variety of well known Puerto Rican dishes with a concentration on freshly caught seafood. For $5 per person you can also take advantage of the local boats that circles the marina for beautiful views of the coastline and the many yachts in the marina.

Coamo Town- Just 20 min from our place, is located in the southern region, north of Santa Isabel. It offers restaurants and beautiful scenic views of the mountains and distant Caribbean sea. Coamo was the third settlement to be established in Puerto Rico and the cathedral, central buildings and plaza are worth a visit. Best know for the Coamo Thermal Springs.

From our place you can easily have wonderful and accessible adventures throughout the island. There are so many charming towns to visit in the South with each offering its particular local flavor. The towns of Orocovis and Barranquitas; east of Villalba and Juana Díaz; and west of Aibonito offer charming restaurants, cafes and bars, rivers, lakes and parks, music and artisanal festivals as well as coffee plantations tours and chocolate making activities. Contact us for additional fun and exciting recommendations.

We loved Casa Moka so very much. Karen is super amazing and loved having her next door, she answered our billion questions and gave us really awesome food recommendations. We got to watch mantees in the ocean right in front of her house. If you want an authentic Puerto Rican beach house experience, this is the perfect place. The house is beautifully designed and couldn't have had a better time. We certainly plan to visit again.

Morton and his wife are great hosts. They were very responsive to all of our inquiries. They have a beautiful home in the suburbs. Quiet and peaceful location. Great place if you want to get away to relax.

We enjoyed our stay at Casamoka. the outdoor space is so nice and pleasant, direct access to the beach, outdoor shower to clean up after the swim, barbecue and outside kitchen.... The house is beautifully decorated by Morten & Karen, a lovely beach house, perfect for six people. Local fisherman, or stores at the corner of the street, the supermarket is only 15 minutes away and Neighbours are friendly. Anthony, a family member of the owner, leaves three minutes from the casamoka; he is the handyman and ready to help or supply mangoes when it is the season! We will keep good memories from our vacation at Casamoka.

Great place to stay if you want to be away from tourist and want an authentic beach living experience. There's a women who sales fresh fish. Ask a local how to find her house, the streets are like a labyrinth. And please support the local store across from the gas station, you won't regret it. The sweetest people

The property is beautiful and well set up. We loved the furniture, art and all the amenities that Morten had. Absolutely beautiful outdoor hosting spot right on the beach front. If the house got too hot, a nice dip would cool you off. Its away from from the major cities but we loved the privacy and the off the beaten place to wind down after a long day of tourism. Very private and relaxing.

This property is amazing. It is tucked away in a small town fairly close to Ponce, but far enough away to feel truly away from it all. The three bedrooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. Hosts provide towels for the shower and beach. The kitchen is amazing as is the outdoor grilling area. There is a nice, covered patio with a huge table and wicker chairs, as well as some canvass chairs looking out over the water. Because of the seclusion, we were able to see manatees feeding every morning. The location is an easy drive to Ponce where you can enjoy the boardwalk or a snorkeling trip. I will definitely keep this place in mind if we return to Puerto Rico.
