St. Just is a cozy little village in Cornwall 's West. The cottage is just as cozy. It is located near the village's center, close to the market square. It is an old building with many unique features and interesting decoration. We (two adults, two kids and a toddler) had a really good time. There are some reviews here complaining about cleanliness... while you could see the cottage got cleaned, it has old furniture, plates, cutlery, a.s.o. Do not expect a sleek city apartment. It just adds to its charme. :-)

Lovely miners cottage in the middle of St Just. Tastefully and charmingly decorated, makes you feel just at home. Just about the right size, fitted with beautiful bathroom. Perfect spot to relax and starting point for walks. Will return.

Contact with the host was constant from day 1 of the booking and well into our time whilst at the cottage up until the day we left. The town provided all the amenities one might need (supermarket, pubs, bakery, butcher, pharmacy and a very convenient free parking area near the house). As far as locations go, we found it quite easy to travel (by car) around to the various destinations we were interested in. It was lovely to return to the cottage in the evening as well. For the days we decided not to use the hired car, there are buses that provide transport to other near and further towns.

The cottage is gorgeous and well-equipped. The area was wonderful, just a 20m walk to deserted beaches and the coastal path. St Just is lovely too with a wonderful pasty shop!. Frances was very welcoming and attentive but also gave us the privacy for the quiet holiday we needed. The kids loved the garden and Netflix, they also loved the park next to the cottage and the dinosaur egg beach! We loved the sunny breakfast room and the wonderfully decadent bathroom as well as the beaches and coastal path of the area. Thanks, we had a fantastic time!

The location of this cottage was perfect and Frances was very helpful with all our queries. We spent all of our days on the gorgeous beaches nearby. The only downside with our stay was that the cottage needed a really good clean. It is a real shame as it is a lovely cottage. There were stains on carpets/mats/duvets/cushions which were really unsightly and it needed a good airing and hoover and possibly a bit of de-cluttering. Most of the utensils/pots in the kitchen had not been washed properly either. The cast iron bath in the bathroom and morning room were really nice but the rest of the cottage had a slightly unloved feel. The mattress on the bed in the main bedroom may also need replacing as it was very lumpy and soft. Parking is an issue unless you drive a tiny car in which case you can park round the back. We tried this but to our cost as we scratched our car. Best to park at the top of the street and walk down.

Response from Frances:
Our traditional granite miners cottage is a working country home with laid back cosiness and rural charm. We provide a well equipped atmosphere with all the day to day comforts and extras you would not find in a holiday cottage or hotel. You can see from the photos that the cottage is peaceful and uncluttered. We are artists and our artwork and reference books decorate the shelves. We empty the wardrobes and drawers for guests to store their clothes and provide many kitchen extras for use of the guests - spices and teas and coffees and gadgets such as our juicer and dishwasher. We share our books and musical instruments and provide access to Netflix and unlimited data on the net. The cottage is thoroughly cleaned and hoovered before each guest arrives. Freshly laundered bed linen and towels are provided and a welcoming gift of fresh wholemeal bread, milk and flowers is there on your arrival. The mattress in the big bedroom is a Vispring mattress that cost approximately £1000, we prefer a soft mattress to sleep on and pass this luxury onto our guests. The bed in the smaller room is a futon and has a firm futon mattress that can be used if preferred. The access to parking at the back of the cottage is described fully in the directions that I send to all the guests. I also discuss by phone the difficulties in driving down this traditional Cornish country lane and make several suggestions to very nearby free alternatives. I am upset that Nazia did not enjoy her stay in our home as we work hard to provide a clean, welcoming homely environment. I ask that my guests will call me if anything is amiss and I can remedy the situation and make their stay as comfortable as possible.
