Ramakanta created shantaghar with all his heart and soul, sweat and tears. You can feel this in his presence and at the nature resort. We stayed in lesse dai room and it is beautiful, serene and well appointed. The early morning light pouring through wooden windows was magical and the paper lamps make the room so tranquil at night. The porch perfect respite from afternoon heat. We also had plenty of downtime to do yoga and meditate. Deepa's cooking is wonderful and you can taste the freshness in the veggies and the dal was the best we've had in 30 days in Nepal. Oh and take the bikes for rides in the village that was so fun to see the villagers at play and work. Thanks for an incredible time Ramakanta and Deepa and Dinesh.

We can only say four words: it was so amazing! There are so many things we had done, rhino experiences with careful guides, meeting elephants of the park rangers and an amazing dschungel walk for 8 hours with 3 waterfalls and 2 swim experiences in the dschungel. We also extended our stay from 4 to 5 nights. We haven't missed anything it is like a second home for us. In case we come back to Nepal we will definetly stay with Ramakanta again. He and his family are so wonderful and lovely that we are already missing them now while we are staying in Pokhara. One hint: we thought we could go to Sauraha for a day from Shanta Ghar which isn't possible because you can't go directly. You would have had to go to Baratpur and from there to Sauraha. Minimum 4 hours one-way.

This place completely exceeded our expectations. It was a bit of a journey to get there from Kathmandu but so worth the effort. It was nice to be out of the main tourist area, but to still experience the beautiful Chitwan. The accommodation was so unique and peaceful, surrounded by wildlife and a quiet village. Also definitely worth paying for your meals to be looked after for you. It was always something different and it was always something delicious. We only stayed 3 nights but I would definitely recommend more if you have the time. The family are so inviting and helpful, they really do go above and beyond!

My sister and I had an amazing stay at the Shanta Ghar Resort. Right from the beginning Ramakanta was incredibly helpful and extremely hospitable when it came to getting us from Bharatpur to his home via the local bus. Upon arrival we were served delicious Nepali veg food and black tea. We paid a modest price of 1000 rupee (per day per person) for our food and water. Ramakanta also arranged a safari for us in Chitwan which we enjoyed. Our room, the toilets, and the showers were all very clean. It was nice having a mosquito net as well. We loved being able to sleep with our windows open and wake up to the birds chirping and other village sounds in the morning. I would highly recommend a stay at Shanta Ghar. We loved being right in the middle of traditional Nepali culture and out of the tourist areas. We will remember our stay forever! Thank you!

I had the most amazing time at shant Hagar!!! This place is so beautifull, authentic and calm! It is also like a homestay. You'd Make part of the family or stay quite on your own if you want. There is enough space. The hosts are incredibly nice and attentive to your needs. They'd arrange everything for you even walks in the amazing and authentic surroundings. You are in real and non touristic Népal there. Foods is also soooo delicious and nepali! The room i stayed was amazing ! Very Nice, big (with a sitting room part), well decorated, calm and so peacefull, amazing sunset can be watched from the balcony! So i defenitly would recommence this place !!

This amazing property is right in the heart of Chitwan. It is a special and unique home stay with a lovely family. Ramakanta is an incredible host and was very dedicated to making sure we had a good time. He took us on some guided hikes into Chitwan and was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the area. The food was very tasty traditional Nepalese. It was a trip to remember!

Interaction with guests

My family and I have a home close and are always there if need be to cook and provide any service required to make your stay as comfortable as may be.

About Ramakanta

Hello! I am very proud to tell you about Shanta Ghar a beautiful resort I've build and started together with my long time friends from Norway. We met 25 years ago when I was a trekking guide in the Himalayas, Anapurna. I have met a lot of nice people from all over the world during these years. Now I'm really happy to wish you welcome to Shanta Ghar, a different and natural place in the heart of Chitwan National Park. It is a very peaceful non tourist area. I can provide different activities like jungle safari and camps in the jungle for 2 -3 days. If you prefer to just relax, it is a perfect place for this too. I will do everything to make your stay a pleasant one! Welcome!
