Our self-contained apartment occupies the lower floor of our house and has its own, private entrance. We have a large backyard available to guests and our property is 3/4 of a mile from downtown Nevada City and within easy driving distance of the Yuba River and many outdoor recreation opportunities including Lake Tahoe. Our property is a wildlife sanctuary with 30 plus species of birds regularly in attendance. I am a baker and regularly bake sourdough bread and cookies for our guests.

Well first, it takes two of us, my wife Carol and I. We enjoy hosting a wide variety of people. Given the chance, we will sit and visit with our guests. Carol is an artist (she paints in oils), and I am a baker, knife sharpener, birder, adventurer, and reader. We believe America should be more hospitable to travelers and feel lucky to have the opportunity to demonstrate how hospitable Americans can be.

During your stay
We will generally be available and can provide guidance, depending on your interests, to the many opportunities in the area. We are very involved with the local arts and local farm community. We will help make your stay enjoyable in any way we can. We will stock the kitchen with coffee, tea and, typically, will provide a loaf of fresh sourdough bread and cookies. Let us know if there is anything else you would like us to stock for you in advance of your arrival.
