Dear Guest(s),

I think my reviews speak for themselves! If you are on your way to New York and would like to stay in a great bedroom, I would definitely enjoy being your host.

When making a reservation, please email me and let me know a bit about you - it's great to know who I could have as a guest in my home - it makes me a better host!

I'm also happy to answer any questions you might have.

All the best,
Erik

Some basics:

1. My apartment is typical for many in Hell's Kitchen - the 5th Floor of a five floor walk-up. There is no elevator. (But, keep reading and look at the pics - there are some real positives from climbing the extra stairs!)

2. Please have a complete profile. It's great to know whom I'll be welcoming to NYC.

3. Please contact me if you make a reservation - and I'm completely fine with extended stays!

Your bedroom:

- Private, right near the front door
- newly decorated and furnished
- full (double) sized bed with super-comfy Serta mattress
- 'interior bedroom' on an air shaft with zero street noise
- gets a good amount of natural light right from the roof
- eye-catching and clean bed linens
- great art on the walls (more pictures soon!)
- WiFi internet access
- its own window air conditioner.
- decently sized closet (where I do store some items of my own) with room for one very large or two medium sized suitcases and loads of space for hanging items
- building controlled steam heat from a heat-riser/radiator

The shared bathroom:

- three feet from your bedroom door
- plenty of clean, soft, fluffy towels
- toiletries like shampoo and soap available (but probably best if you bring your own)
- hair dryer
- usually has fresh flowers on the windowsill

About me:

I'm a 41-year old gay guy who moved from Ohio to NYC over 11 years ago. Though I consider NYC to be home, I grew up in the Midwest and have also lived extensively in Germany and Hungary.

I'm friendly, well traveled, and know how to be both a welcome guest and host.

I definitely enjoy going out on the town and spending time with friends. At the same time, I am not a partier, nor do I stay up terribly late at night.

Guests will have their own bedroom, right near the apartment entrance - you can come and go as you please and not disturb me.

A big plus of being on the 5th floor is that the apartment is very quiet.

Wifi is available, and the living room has 52" flatscreen tv, a DVR, BluRay, and hi-def sound system.

The kitchen and bathroom will be shared, and both are kept ready for use and completely clean at all times.

Kitchen has juicer, blender, and a Keurig coffee maker - the full set of Caphalon cookware is available for use as well.

My bedroom is my personal space - and the guest room will be yours. I generally do not enter the guestroom when I am hosting.

I teach high school history, so you may see me grading papers in the evening - if I am at home.

During the week I am out the door before 8am. On weekends I generally wake up later than that by a few hours - or may not be in Manhattan.

I have a boyfriend with whom I spend a great deal of time. You could meet him if he stays over and spends the night with me here in Manhattan. I do also frequently spend time with him at his place in Brooklyn, so you may have a weekend with my apartment entirely to yourself!

If you are interested in the arts, good restaurants, and interesting shopping (especially for vintage furniture), I will happily share any tips I have.

The neighborhood:

In the last five years, Hell's Kitchen has probably become the fastest changing neighborhood south of Central Park. You really are in the heart of New York City when you stay in HK.

- packed with new and established restaurants and bars
- active nightlife in the area
- every show on Broadway just blocks away
- opera, ballet and symphony are just a fifteen minute walk to the north at Lincoln Center
- Javits Convention Center is very close
- Penn Station and Madison Square Garden are either a 20 minute walk or just one subway stop away.

Two great neighborhood restaurant tips - these are my favorites! Check out Empanada Mama (51st and 9th) and Totto Ramen (52nd and 9th)

Transportation:

Transportation to anywhere in the city really couldn't be easier.

- All of the main subway lines run through 42nd Street/Times Square
- all buses into the city pass through Port Authority five blocks to the south
- A/C/E line is three blocks to the south and the N/Q/R lines just two avenues to the east
- 47th Street now has a CitiBike station at the end of the block (rent your own bicycle if you like!)

Other things to note

Once colder weather hits: there is a heat riser/radiator in your room. It will tick or ping as well as hiss at times - welcome to the wonders of steam heat in NYC! My building is awesome and very 'Hell's Kitchen,' and it was also built in 1905.

Check in is anytime after 5PM
Check out by 12PM (noon)

Please do:

- communicate with me immediately if you will be arriving before the check in time - I do have flexibility, but need to make advance plans. As a general rule I prefer to greet all my guests personally when they arrive.
- close the front door very quietly and gently so that it does not slam (it is heavy and made of metal)
- take off shoes as soon as you enter
- clean up after yourself, especially if you cook
- smoke outside the building - not in the apartment, on the roof, or on the fire escape
- tell anyone who asks that you are staying with me as a friend for a visit
- ask me if there is anything I can do to improve your stay in NYC

Please do not:

- access the roof of the building for any reason - unless you check with me and I go with you (NYC fire codes!)
- flush anything other than toilet paper down the toilet
- use excessive amounts of toilet paper
- use illegal substances of any kind in the apartment
- bring anyone else into the apartment unless we have had a face-to-face conversation about it - an additional guest will need to pay a per-night fee
- bother my neighbors for any reason or ring their door buzzers
- plan to spend time in the living room after I go to bed (usually around 10pm on weeknights - on weekends this time may vary, but it is never later than 1am) My bedroom is immediately next to the living room.

Your booking a reservation and paying a fee to stay in the apartment indicates that you completely and totally agree not to hold myself, my management company, or any other individual legally liable in any way - either criminally or civilly - for personal injury, property loss or damage of your own items you may bring into the space during your stay.

Thanks, Erick. I had a great time there staying at your place. You are the kindest host I've ever met. I was always welcomed to him. Any questions about anything, I could get an answer from him! and his place was neat and clean!! and you can also find some maps and booklets about places in NewYork and his small gifts. How nice he is! The place is close to time square! I think communication is the most important thing for the airbnb system cuz we are gonna stay at another person's "private place." When it comes to this, Erick is just a professional. You are not gonna regret to stay his place!

This is my second experience with erik, last summer I decided to stay with him. Also this time I found myself very well. The apartment is located in the center in a beautiful residential area, the neighborhood is noiseless and clean. The apartment is modern with equipped for every comfort and really welcoming. The bedroom is clean with a large bed, TV with Netflix and air-conditional . The kitchen is fully equipped to cook and store your foods. Erik always keeps the house very clean and often changes blankets and towels. From the apartment you can reach any place you wish for since the subway is nearby , and it is also very close to Times Square. Erik is a great host !!!!! He is very friendly, kind and always available. He helped me to find new places in New York and recommended me a lot of restaurants and locals . Erik was like a friend to me, always present and thoughtful. I had the opportunity to go out with him and Sam (his husband) several times, and it has always been memorable. He made my stay in New York unforgettable and full of emotions. Erik with his advice and his way of being thoughtful made me feel like a real New Yorker!

My stay in New York was amazing! Eric's place is in the perfect location 5 minutes from Times Square, and Broadway. Its in a great spot for food, and for the subway. The room is ultra comfortable, and Eric is a fabulous host! It had everything I needed, including air conditioning, subway maps, and some awesome tips from Eric. Highly recommended!

I had amazing time with Erik, he is so friendly and helping! The apartment is very clean, directly in the center of NYC. Erik provided me a lot of Information how to reach the place and what to do in Manhattan and in Brooklyn. I felt very comfortable with him as if we were old friends. I can highly recommend him and his wonderfully designed apartment!

Erik has been a fantastic host! His communication prior to my arrival was great and much appreciated - he gave me really clear directions to the apartment and tips for things to do/restaurants/shows/etc. The apartment and room are exactly as described and beautifully presented and clean! The bed is also extremely comfortable. Erik made an effort to be at the apartment when I arrived and show me around and have a chat! He also made sure I was comfortable throughout my stay, particularly when he wasn't at the apartment and he made it clear that I could contact him at any time (of course, he did all this without being an overbearing host!!) The apartment is close to everything you need and all the tourist spots. I was impressed by how close the street is to Times Square whilst still being quiet! Overall a great trip to NYC, aided in no small part by Erik! Thanks for being a wonderful host, hopefully we'll cross paths again in London or NYC!

I'm a 41-year old gay guy who moved from Ohio to NYC over 10 years ago. Though I consider NYC to be home, I like to think I've not strayed too far from my friendly Midwestern roots.

I have also lived extensively in Germany and Hungary (see bottom of page!). I'm well traveled, multilingual, pretty darn fun to be around, and know how to be both a welcoming host - and gracious guest.

I teach high school history, so if you need to know a nifty historical tidbit about Anne Hutchinson or a red pen for grading papers, I may have either handy.

I love volleyball, tattoos, kites, flowers, sci-fi and fantasy novels/films, James Bond, spinach, Berlin, and beaches. I dislike liver and onions, having cold/wet feet, and allergy season.

I hope to meet you here in NYC soon, and look forward to hearing from you!

All the best,
Erik
