Penwaun Bach is a detached cottage in an idyllic setting in the beautiful and historic Nevern valley of North Pembrokeshire and within the National Park. It is set in lawned gardens, orchards and paddocks on the banks of the River Nevern, commanding stunning views from the sitting room bay windows & bedroom doors across the wooded valley up the river. A path leads from the cottage through the woods on the riverbank, full of white anemones and bluebells in the spring.

The space

All the gardens and paddock are yours to enjoy and to explore in peace and tranquillity as there are no close neighbours. There’s no need to move from the house windows or garden to watch fascinating wildlife including buzzards, red kites, herons, robins, tits, nuthatches, woodpeckers and sometimes the flash of blue as a kingfisher darts up the river; you may be lucky enough to see otters too.

Nevern has an early Norman Church with a 1,000 year old Celtic cross in its churchyard, an ancient pilgrims’ cross carved into rock, an ancient Castle which is currently being excavated and a friendly pub.

The small town of Newport is two miles away. Newport has all essential shops, the Parrog (the estuary with more wonderful bird life and Newport Boat Club), glorious Newport Sands, tennis courts and a links Golf Course.

There are many other beaches and coves within easy reach.

A lovely secluded spot to use as a base to see the surrounding area. Beautiful setting that feels idyllic and peaceful. The home was comfortable with all you need and a lovely outside space. Only consideration for us would be if the attached apartment had been in use as it might not be as secluded and relaxed depending on neighbours.

Response from Penny:
Thank you Sam for your lovely review and I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. Penwaun and Penwaun Bach should never be let to different guests at the same time so you should always have the outside space to uourselves!

Gorgeous little cottage, beautifully situated. Perfect for two and a pooch! Newport is a 5 minute drive away (we'd recommend The Golden Lion and Blas at Fronlas for food; by contrast, we found Llys Meddyg a bit underwhelming/overpriced) and there are plenty of other beautiful areas to explore. The cottage itself is small but well equipped. As stated, there's no TV but the wifi was good enough for streaming. Access was simple and Penny was easy to communicate with ahead of time.

Beautiful little cottage. We really did escape the world by going to this place! There are many walks available to you and the garden area is a great size and enclosed which is great if you have dogs or children. The cottage has everything you need and is a good size for a couple wanting to get away.

Lovely quiet spot and very well equipped house. I particularly appreciated the comfortable bed and sofa ... not the usual "what was cheapest from Ikea" ... and so nice when you are staying for a week!!

I have been to Pembrokeshire every single year of my life & love it here more & more every time we come. We sail our little boat out of Newport Pem, walk the coast paths, walk the inland footpaths & by the river, we garden, play golf, tennis & bridge, cycle, ride horses, take photographs and occasionally have time to read a book. I was lucky enough to have been given the cottage by my mother (it had been passed down through many generations before that). Since owning it we have enjoyed making improvements both inside & out hopefully without detracting from its character.
