We invite you to experience the authentic charm of a 19th century Dutch 'achterhuis'. The achterhuis concept is basically a little house in the back of a larger building. This achterhuis was originally used as an atelier for artists; famous for painting the widest canal of Amsterdam just in front of the building.
The space is located in a beautiful, quiet street in the heart of Amsterdam. The space offers you a private, spacious and bright livingroom. When going up small stairs you'll find your private bathroom and bedroom. Linen, towels and shower products are provided.
People who will love this space- historians, romantics, people who want to stay in the historic center, people who like minimally furnished places and people who like old, authentic, quirky buildings.
People who might not - those of you who don't like too many stairs, or prefer modern looking or hotel room looking spaces.
The entrance of the apartment is shared with us, we live in the other part of the house. There's a shared kitchen and doing your laundry is no problem. The kitchen is clean and fully equipped if you want to cook at night, but you would probably prefer to check out all those amazing local restaurants. We don't serve breakfast; beacuse we're out at 7 ( probably not your usual holiday wake up time :) but fresh fruits, coffee and our incidentally baked sweets are for the taking.
Interaction with guests
During the weekends we can personally welcome you during the day; check- in is flexible. During workdays you can arrive after 18h. Earlier we're not in the city so luggage can be dropt off in for example the lockerboxes at Central Station. Check out is always flexible.
We're easy to reach by airbnb app.
Please behave like you're at home ;)
No smoking inside the house please
We're an Amsterdam based couple who love to travel and meet new people. We're renting out a part of our home as well, so feel welcome to enjoy our canal house.
