Interaction with guests

I am an English lady . Husband is a true Texan 4th generation rancher . We are pretty laid back people, entertain outside on weekends sometimes, so anyone would be welcome to join in if they wished to . Children are grown, so its usually fairly quiet around here these days . Other than Henry the miniature horse who makes a point of staying close when cabin is occupied on the chance he may get a carrot
Cabin was built before main house. We lived in it while building. Its cosy...

We are usually around in the house next door. We entertain sometimes,so are always welcome to join in . If you need any info about things in area, a printout is in cabin , or just ask us.Husband is also a real estate agent ,so if looking for property he can help too. Between hosting and traveling using air bnb we have stayed in some great places and met all kinds of interesting people

Other things to note

Theres a swing over the lake to watch beautiful sunsets. And peddle boat/kayac if you feel energetic.Fishing, poles on back porch.Horses love being fed carrots.Just don't expect it to look like the Holiday Inn,it's just a rustic cabin (but with nice furnishing and a great location). Please make sure moderate cancellation policy is understood.Had a few issues with same day cancellations expecting a full refund.Think that's it...Welcome

Think thats about It.... we are decent people, feel anyone coming to stay here would be the same .Since GPS sometimes are not accurate for some reason, please try to arrive before dark,or I may have to come find you ,which I've done more than once!

Judith & Terry's ranch was exactly as advertised! We were looking for a peaceful retreat and being in the country was perfect. We were greeted by their two dogs and they made our stay very enjoyable. Even though Judith couldn't be there to meet us, this was no problem as everything was ready and easy to find. When it rained one morning, we enjoyed reading on the back porch. Feeding the animals was a unique experience. We found many delicious BBQ and Mexican restaurants in town- Tommy's BBQ (ribs), Vicky's BBQ (pies) and Mas Queso (fajitas)! Judith thought of many things to make our stay more relaxing such as having coffee, eggs, towels, wifi, and water that comes from the fridge. Highly recommend!

This was a new experience for my family. We were looking for a place away from distractions to reconnect, and that we did. We were greeted immediately by one of the dogs (Sophie), which was a nice welcoming. She and her partner, Teddy hung around the cabin which was very nice. We loved the Alpaca (Percy), and other ranch dwellers, the Scottish cows, mini-horse, donkeys, pony, hens, etc...We had plenty of privacy. We had fun making smores in the provided fire-ring, playing bored games on back porch, ample use of paddle boats provided, plenty of amenities for use inside/out of cabin. This is a rustic cabin, and a rustic area that can make for a very nostalgic vacation for two or a family. The beds were incredibly comfortable! Loved the heavy soft comforters! The make-shift chuck-wagon table was a neat touch and added for extra space if need be for meals. The decor was delightful and unique with each of the cowboy/Ranch/Texas/Spanish/Western details in the make-up from knobs - seating - lamps-silverware, and cups. We were close enough to Gun Barrel City to have access to grocers, gas, restaurants, lakes, marina, and much more...but chose to stay put. I would highly recommend this place for anyone wanting to get out with nature and just relax. Judith was always available in responding to questions, and or needs via phone, text, and ensured we had what we needed. We unfortunately, had an a/c issue last day, and was scheduled to be repaired, but we were rebated part of our trip without asking which showed genuine integrity, which was important for us as we hadn't taken a trip in 7 years and this was something we really wanted to be special. I would recommend if traveling in hot weather to bring a fan for porch. The first night was a beautiful breeze! The second night stifling heat. That is Texas weather for you. Being on a ranch, you will experience flying insects (so bring spray). Bring bate for fishing (catch/release)...I wouldn't recommend ingesting the fish as the cattle frequently go into the water to cool off. Bring lots of carrots / apples! The animals loved them (including the dogs). The cattle never seemed intimidating and were very people oriented. The stars were incredible at night! I loved the radio set up with speakers in kitchen, that was a very nice touch! I always enjoy preparing meals with music! There were plenty of cooking utensils, and kitchenware for use, though I never did find the cutting board. The bathroom was stocked with personal use items which was also a very nice touch, including robes. Games in closets, sheets, towels etc...and plenty of chairs inside and out for seating. We loved the tour on our last day through the ranch, and through Judith's house! That definitely made it a better day for our departure after the disappointing heat. Thanks again! We will definitely be back!

We found the description and expectations for our stay to be completely accurate with the listing. Nothing 'posh', but very comfortable and welcoming. Judith was always available to answer questions and fill requests via Airbnb communication. We loved having the animals all about, it was part of the charm of the visit, and part of the reason we booked this spot. It was quite handy for driving to Tyler or Athens, or even Canton if that is the goal. The sunsets on the back porch were an added bonus. We would definitely stay here again.

A very quiet place with a great setting and atmosphere. The cabin is beautifully appointed and set in a western decor. We had a great time, and the Cowboy Church just up the street was a wonderful touch!

Judith User ProfileJudith is a superhost.

We are a very friendly and relaxed multi cultural family. I am English, husband is a real Texan cowboy , born on the land and still runs cattle today. We don't smoke or have our dogs inside , but do have friends over for get togethers sometimes, on the weekends when the weather is good, to cook outside. We do travel, and are in and out, so may not always be on the property , but will be happy to answer any questions, and help with any navigation issues if we are not at ranch upon arrival. Spanish and French are spoken fluently here. This is a working farm, dusty in the summer , can be muddy when really wet,not an immaculately clean city place. Expect to find Highland cattle roaming around, and cow poo by the barns. Rabbits, deer, cayotes and skunks are commonplace.
