Split-level colonial loft apartment smack-bang in the middle of downtown Yangon. Balcony looks out on local market. Queen bed with aircon available, or single room with fan. Cleaning lady twice a week. In a great spot. Kitchen and bathroom nothing fancy but I do have speakers and a projector! Desk with keyboard and monitor setup available. Sharing with easygoing journalist (if I'm in town!)
It's bright, colourful, comfortable and homely. It's not like staying in a sterile hotel room. Apologies for having no instant book function but I want to be able to vet prospective guests a bit as I'll also be here sometimes!
Rules of common decency apply. If you're the kind of person who doesn't fill the ice tray, please -- this isn't for you.
Can also store your bags (within reason) if you're headed up-country and don't want to lug your backpack the whole trip. I know what that's like!
The kitchen, toilet and shower are a tad janky. Try and think of it like camping... I'm saving up to renovate!
The whole apartment is yours to explore except the secret room above the kitchen that can only be accessed with the ladder or the tiny door. That is strictly out of bounds. Any noises you hear coming from there should be ignored, and definitely not mentioned.
Interaction with guests
If I'm in town and not too busy with work, I'm happy to show you around! Can also give you a list of things to check out and let you know what's on around town. I've been here three and a half years so should be able to point you in the right direction! Can also help give advice on travel plans etc
Other things to note
Like much of downtown, it's noisy during the day because of the traffic. That said, the honking tends to subside between about 9pm and 7am.
While I have a kitchen, I would prefer it not be used for anything beyond very basic cooking. This is largely to keep the cockroach population at bay (welcome to Yangon!)
