When someone is thinking of moving to Los Angeles, friends make sure to bring them to my house. A leftover from the neighborhood's agrarian past, the restored barn is nestled among 30 fruit trees on a half-acre lot that includes my little farmhouse and a yurt. It's classic bohemian California.

The space

The barn was built in 1922 and restored in 2016 with all the modern amenities. With its concrete floor and giant barn doors that open onto a wall of trees, it still retains it's original farm/industrial character. It has a small, metal-walled bathroom (where the toilet and shower stall are in one room) and a small but utilitarian kitchenette with a gas stove, sink, and mini-fridge nearby. It has a big wooden desk, a small couch, a comfy bed, and an indoor hammock, so it's a peaceful place to get some work done or relax.

It's ideal for one person or a couple, but I do have a single air mattress I can put on the floor if you have a child (or friend) traveling with you.

Guest access

The property has three buildings: the little farmhouse (where I live), the yurt, (which is also on airbnb), and the barn. So the outdoor space--including a firepit, fruit trees, and a giant yard--are shared.

Interaction with guests

My interaction with guests will be minimal. Although I may bump into you occasionally, we'll give you as much privacy as we can.

Carrick's place is super cute, quiet, and feels rural while being a stones throw from all the best of my old neighborhood. Two hammocks for the barn alone!! An adorable playful puppy, Delta! Views! A chicken. I had an inspiring, creative stay here. The bed is very comfortable too, I slept really well for a change.

If you're looking for a unique stay this is for you! The space is small and romantic perfect for a couple or solo traveler. The yard is large and the garage cans are right next to the barn which make for easy pickup for your pets.
