The space

Guest bedrooms have built-in "Alexa" by Amazon, which lets you adjust lighting and temperature by voice, as well as set alarms, get directions, ask about things to do in STL, weather info, etc. Historic two-family home, renovated in 2013 to a one family. We like "themes" here. Art and accents in rooms often hand-made. Lots of local art displayed.

Guest access

Guest rooms, upper floor full guest bath (If there is a guest staying in the downstairs guest room, they will need to come up to take a shower only. They have their own half bath for their room. If there is not another guest staying, it is for your exclusive use) , upper floor guest laundry off bath, formal dining room, front sitting room, and use of kitchen for light cooking/eating. Feel free to smoke or sip on the lower back deck, or front porch.

Other things to note

We are in the city. It can get pretty loud here on weekends. You can hear live music from the entertainment district. Guests should plan on parking on Tower Grove Avenue, and entering through the front door. Guests will be given a pin code for door access upon booking. You car is fine to park on Tower Grove, just be mindful to keep it locked and not leave valuables in sight.

A note about reviews:
Please contact me during the stay if there are any any issues or concerns. Less than five star reviews in any area severely impact a host's rating on Airbnb.
Value: Home is one of the nicest in the area, and offers more amenities than most similar listings. Hotels start at $119 per night in area minimum.
Communication: Guests can contact me by phone, email, or text, and I usually respond in under one hour. And of course, I try to be available during the stay.
Per confirmation with Airbnb, this is whether location was accurately represented. Not how close you are to your desired destination. I cannot move my home. You can check the general vicinity of my listing prior to booking, and listing details to decide whether the location is good for you. It is a 10-15 minute walk to the train from my home. We are one block from the "Grove" entertainment district, and a 15 minute walk to the CWE or Forest Park. We are one mile from "the Hill", and a short drive from South Grand, downtown, and Soulard.
Cleanliness: Obvious
Overall Experience:
Especially if you are new to Airbnb, or an infrequent traveler, each stay will be different, but if you use the service often, and have comparisons, you will see that I offer allot of details and amenities that many hosts don't.
So please consider carefully before reviewing, and be honest and kind.

You must also acknowledge
Must climb stairs - One flight of steep stairs that is typical of 100+ year old homes in the city. Not easily manageable for guests with mobility issues.
Potential for noise - We are in the city, and an entertainment district. It can get loud on weekends and late nights.
Pet(s) live on property - 3 elderly dogs, all under 10 pounds. Cha-Chi will be the most likely to come up for a "pet" or treat.
Some spaces are shared - The kitchen, sitting room, and dining room are all shared, but more often than not you will have them to yourself anyway. Please feel free to enjoy.

Shannon's place was great! I went to St. Louis to view the eclipse, and Shannon was nice enough to leave me solar viewing glasses - extremely thoughtful.

This was our first time using Airbnb and we couldn’t have been happier! Shannon was great to answer all our questions prior to booking and she was available when we checked in, getting us settled, telling us about the neighborhood, and making suggestions on things to do and see. She is also a Lyft driver, and was able to assist us with our evening plans. We stayed upstairs in the Southwest room, which was as nice and cozy as the photos show, not to mention the bed was very comfortable. The house is located a short walk to Manchester Ave. and the Grove neighborhood. This eclectic area has many interesting shops, restaurants and bars. We wandered down to the Urban Chestnut Brewing Co. early in the evening for a self-guided tour, sampling and food, then the following morning we enjoyed some doughnuts at Vincent Van Doughnuts. We truly enjoyed our stay and we’re already planning a return trip to Shannon’s!

We had a great stay with Shannon. The location was pretty central to everything we wanted to do in St Louis, and the accommodations themselves were very comfortable.

Interaction with guests

Please feel free to ask if you need something. We are happy to chat over coffee and tea and provide recommendations if desired. Our schedules vary widely so we are in and out at all different times. We are not "early risers" so if you are.... great, if not, that's fine too. Just do whatever you normally would. We are up and down the upper stairs a few times during the night to let the dogs out the front door.

About Shannon

Hello!!! Thank you for your interest. My husband and I are transplants from MI and FL, living in the city of STL. We are small business owners so we won't be around too much but feel free to ask any questions. We also have three small geriatric dogs in residence. This is a great location and a decent hotel room around here starts at $129 per night. When there are conventions or events going on, prices are higher. Are you are into biking, nightlife, dining, museums, cultural events, and a diverse environment, this is for you!
