3,400 sq. feet of gracious living...and just 2 blocks from coffee and the Big Island's best ice-cream ever..not to mention shopping, restaurants, and other amenities. A short drive gets you to amazing views, hiking, snorkeling, or lounging poolside.
This house loves to be filled with laughter, with its spacious social rooms and multiple outdoor entertaining areas. Great beds, lots of natural light, and Kohala's special brand of breeze, make this the perfect spot to hang out with your group.

The space

This grand home sailed here to Hawaii from Connecticut at the turn of the century. It's one of a small number of homes from the era of this size. As such, we are happy to enable more people to enjoy the feeling of gracious living in old Hawaii. It's clean and airy, with high ceilings. Big open lawns surround the house. Mature trees offer flowers, fruit, and shade. Garage parking for 2 vehicles.

Guest access

All guests are encouraged to fully utilize the common rooms of the house, including library, living room, kitchen, lanais, and yard.

Guests have the option of renting up to 3 rooms of a shared house, or reserving the entire house(the minimum for private use of the home is 395/night.)

Interaction with guests

We have excellent house management to care for your needs!

Other things to note

If you are not occupying the whole house, there is a very slight possibility there will be other guests sharing the spacious common social rooms. So far, all of our guests have enjoyed the company of the other guests. If you prefer to have the house to yourself, the minimum nightly is 395.

We enjoyed a stay with family and friends. The house is in a very convienient location in Hawi. Has a nice feel and spread out inside and out. The kitchen is well stocked. The house is charming and Historical so enjoy and respect. Would love to see a little more comfie furniture on the big side Lanai. Thank you again. I highly recommend staying here in Hawi and enjoying this very special area of North Kohala. Simple and graceful in time. Aloha

Malia and her family are charming hosts who offer a spacious, clean, well appointed and comfortable home in a terrific location. The tips I received from Malia have been some of the best experiences I've had on the Big Island and this was my fifth time traveling there.

Malia's place reminded me of the good old days of Airbnb before it became increasingly dominated by Ikea-furnished short term rentals brought to market by professional landlords and side-hustlers. This grand, sprawling and inviting home has character and story. It's set just off the mostly quiet main road, a short walking distance to the nourishments in Hawi. The yard has flowering and fruit trees, visible from copious recliners and hammocks on porches and veranda. It was the perfect place for the four of us.

We spent 5 amazing days at Lilikoi House. We went for a wedding and stay there with a group of friends. The house is beautiful, much bigger than what it looks in the pictures and incredible comfortable. We didn't have much time to spend there because we were out most of the time, but it has many living rooms, dining rooms and spaces to hangout--the front porch was our favorite one--, plus a yoga room that we didn't have tome to use, but could be used as an extra room for bigger groups. I would definitely stay there if I go to Hawi again. There are also small shops, a grocery store, a restaurant and a coffee shop about 3 min walking distance.

This was a perfect venue for our wedding and family. The backyard was lush and tropical, perfectly landscaped. The house has so much character, with little touches of Malias personality and Upcountry Plantation / Japanese traditional decor. The house is completely stocked with linens, china/silver, and everything you need in between. Malia and her mother are so sweet, making time to share with us new additions or upgrades done to the house over our six month wait before the wedding. I highly recommend this house for a family gathering, with plenty of space for everyone and a comfy getaway on the side of old Hawaii that most people never experience. Thank you for everything!

Lilikoi house was a dream. Right outside of Hawi Town, its gracious rooms and feel made us feel immediately at home and in classic old world Hawaii . The gardens are lovely with waiting hammocks and lawn and its kitchen is fabulously outfitted. It was wonderful to come home to and is close to both some of the best kohala beaches and deep, rural green valleys. Wonderful for groups with lots of hangout space. we look forward to hopefully coming back soon! Mahalo nui!

I'm a keen gardener, professional photographer and tanguera. My family and I love Airbnb for travel and exploring new places to dance tango and visit gardens! We try to make our place as close to the ideal stay as possible, with clean and cozy at the top of the list.

Looking forward to our next connection!
