We stayed in Thanasit's place for 6 weeks in Jan. and Feb. It is a very convenient location, and the building is great. The woman making Thai food on the ground floor makes fantastic food, and we had breakfast there daily. The Japanese food on the ground floor is good. The location is great in terms of proximity to Nimman and the old city and Kad Suan Kaew. It is quite noisy at night, which is a shame. The place is clean, and the building crew comes to clean it every 3 days. It is a simple no frills Thai style apartment with no real kitchen to speak of and tiles everywhere, but it was perfectly adequate for our needs - although perhaps a little overpriced for comparables. The main issue was that the bathroom smelled like sewage the entire stay even though we asked for Thanasit to fix it many many times. Perhaps it is unfixable, or perhaps he did not get the right people to take a look. Also, the shower and bathtub have an idiotic design so that every time you turn the shower on the bathroom floods (it pools on the side of the bathtub and then goes onto the floor). Apart from these two problems, we would have rated the place much higher. Chiang Mai is our home away from home and we loved our time there this year, but we would not rent this place again unless those two problems were fixed permanently.

Response from Thanasit:
Thank you Nate for your patience. I must accept that, firstly, the odour problem came from the drainage system of the building. The additional air-based drainage has been now installed to help circulating the air. The design of the bathroom is a permanent style of construction so I will try to find a way to modify this typical Thai style to be the more efficiently usage of the resident in the future. The bathroom sink was now clean by cleaning agents to ensure the cleanliness and odour-free; however, I have to mention that the drainage pipe of bathroom sink was partially clogged by baby's defecation. I currently try to find another design of drain pipe in order to allow the water drained more fast and efficiently as the maintenance agent has suggested me that if the sink's pipe should not be clogged by any strong-odour substance. For short-term solution, I will add my recommendation to any future guest to use bathroom's sink for light purposes (such as face cleaning, teeth brushing) only.

The host provided good communication before our visit and after we arrived. However, the apartment is small for 3 people even though there are two bedrooms, there is only one small couch for sitting and watching TV, lots of amenities were missing in terms of tissues, sink sponge, hand towels, bar soap, condiments, (salt and pepper), etc. when I told him many of these things were missing, he did manage to provide some of them the following day. In a short term rental, you would expect some of these things and not have to do ourt and provide them for a 5 day stay. There wasn't even a knife initially for cutting up fruit. We didn't expect to have full meals here, but like to do breakfast in the morning before we go out. Many people will be happy with this apartment, because it's so basic. But, I'm an Air BNB host for many years, and spent time in my houses, so I'm aware of things that are needed. I guess my expectations were just a little higher. I visit Chiang Mai every winter and always rent through Air BNB.....moving to a new place later today.

Welcome to Chiang Mai,Thailand!

I was born in Bangkok, grown up in Chiang Mai and then moving back to Bangkok again for my first degree and working. My favourite destination is Edinburgh, Scotland where the old world meets the new world so so perfectly. Additionally, my favourite attraction in Chiang Mai is Chedi Luang Temple. This temple houses an enormous pa go da which its top was partially destroyed by a hugh earthquake hundred years ago. My favorite food is Thai especially Sa-tor, Southern Thailand Dish. Hope you guys try on this dish when having an opportunity to visit Thailand (but not in Chiang Mai of course!).

Hosting my place in an Airbnb is truly wonderful experience for me. Even though I was able to meet only some guests in person but I will always be reachable on the application of an Airbnb to assist all guests to have a smooth check in, have a nice stay and have a delightful check out. Most of the time, I find an Airbnb's guests are interesting and highly motivated people; therefore, it encourages me to improve my product's quality in order to deliver a decent, efficient place to all travelers and definitely be an Airbnb's guest personally in the future when travelling to other countries.

Looking forward to seeing all of you!

Cheers!
