Four bedrooms in two Casitas side by side in one of Tucson's oldest neighborhoods, Barrio Viejo. The Barrio is close to the city center's art and culture as well as restaurants and dining. The Casitas are great for multiple couples, business travelers, families (with kids), and larger groups. Each Casita has two bedrooms, one bathroom, a great room and a full kitchen. There is a gate between the fenced back yards to provide access from one Casita to the other.
1 - On entry to our pink rustic adobe casita you will find brick floors and saguaro rib ceilings. The 15" thick mud adobe walls are brightly painted in yellows, reds, blues and greens. On the walls are original art by artists from Bisbee, Arizona. Most religious art is from the area around Chimayo, New Mexico. The sturdy furniture is Mexican made of natural woods, leather and iron. The Mexican tiled kitchen has a gas range, toaster, coffee maker, dishware, pots, pans and other utensils. Bedroom 1 in the front of the house has a queen bed. Bedroom 2 in the back of the house has a king bed. Through the laundry is the fenced backyard that includes a tree shaded brick patio, table, BBQ, fire pit and seating. Towels and sheets are provided. Washer and dryer are onsite.
2 - On entry to our yellow adobe casita, which has over 900 square feet, you will find original wood floors and a combination of newer and vintage furniture throughout. On the walls are original art by artists from Bisbee, Arizona. The front and back bedrooms each have king beds with down comforters. Bed sheets and towels are provided. The recent remodel added concrete floors and counter tops in the kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen includes modern stainless steel appliances. Washer and dryer are onsite. The fenced backyard has a garden, fireplace, charcoal grill, and covered patio with furniture, table, and chairs.
Guests have full access of both Casitas as well as front and back fenced yards. The gate in the back fence between the yards opens to allow access to both yards. Please help yourself to fruits and vegetables in the gardens.
Interaction with guests
I am available by message, email or phone most anytime, but frequently at home in Bisbee (2 hours away).
Other things to note
Both homes are older with un-level areas, some steps and narrow doorways. Please take care when walking.
Wi-Fi and internet via cable modem and wireless router at each casita. Housekeeping is available for an additional fee.
The Casitas are on the bus route - so buses can be heard through our vintage windows. Also, the Casitas are convenient to I-10 so some freeway noise is notable from the backyard.
Feel free to move things around to suit you, but please return all to its original location before you leave.
Please take trash and recycle bins to the street on Tuesday night for early morning pickup on Wednesday.
Before you leave:
- load and start dishwasher
- take trash and recycle to the bins outside

I grew up in Tucson and still enjoy staying in my vacation homes there. I recently retired from health care technology advising / consulting. My work took me to many communities nationwide and provided me opportunity to visit Mexico and several European countries (love Italy and Mazatlán).
I host two homes in Tucson's Barrio Viejo. I'm happy to learn about my guests and why they are visiting. I'm usually available by phone and messaging, but pretty much leave guests alone during their stays.
I now live in the mountains just outside of Bisbee, AZ where I have settled down a bit to learn new things about myself and the world around me.
I like sharing great meals and conversations with friends and family. My favorite movies and books are mysteries, historical fiction and action adventure tales. I enjoy live music especially when its outdoors and attend Bisbee Side Pony Express, Bisbee Blues Festival, Tucson Jazz Fest and the Tucson Folk Festival. I've also made it to the Telluride Blues Festival a few times as well as South by Southwest in Austin, TX. I love doing all of this with Paul.
