This property is a part of over 1,400 square meter historic landmark building registered by Japanese Cultural Agency. It is constructed over 7 years and completed in 1941. It is of an architectural importance especially as it survived through the WWII and is designed based on Feng Shui philosophy.

Enjoy the island on foot, bikes, our shuttle vehicle or public buses. Our travel concierge can give you good tips on how to best-experience the island or hire a butler for the exclusive services.

The space

The Guesthouse is a historic landmark constructed in 1941. It retains most of the original walls, doors, and windows. With the Western-Japanese atmosphere, you will have an exotic and luxurious guest wing all to yourselves to enjoy.

Guest access

You will have the entire wing (95 sq meters) but also with an access to a part of the traditional wing (over 300 sq meters). We have a variety of cultural programs like tea ceremony, kimono wearing and photography, origami, flower arrangement, cooking class, etc.

Interaction with guests

We will have our staff 24/7 staying at the traditional wing in case you need of assistance. You are welcome to try our morning walk together in the neighborhood of a fishing village. We can also plan you to go shopping, exploring natural and cultural elements of what the island has to offer. Breakfast can be served at an additional cost (JPY2,000 per person) if you want to learn how to make miso soup with the local seaweed and onions, Japanese omlette, and rice, porridge, or rice balls. We can also take you to a local restaurant where they serve both the traditional and Western style breakfasts.

Other things to note

We are a fully licensed tour operator and we can plan your trip to Kyoto and beyond as well as island tour. Try going on the fishermen's boat, rice planting and harvesting, fruit and mushroom harvesting, incense making, noodle making, natural dying, pottery making, and much much more!! We will send you the information once you are booked with us.
