The two guest rooms are rented separately and share a sitting room, with table and chairs, and a full bath. The area overlooks our great room and has two rockers, a sofa, a small refrigerator-freezer. Wi-fi and cell service work fine.

The space

Our second floor loft overlooks the great room. It has two guest rooms that we rent separately. They share a full tub-and-shower bath, a living area furnished w. sofa, drop-leaf table and rocking chairs, and a balcony with table and chairs(URL HIDDEN)Each B.R. sleeps two in queen-size, real beds(URL HIDDEN)Each bedroom has a closet - half available to the renter - and suitcase stand. We built this place three years ago and it has an open floor plan, with a passive solar window wall in the great room.(URL HIDDEN)Kitchen privileges are available by advance agreement.(URL HIDDEN)In summer, Becket is on the forested edge of Berkshire County's wide range of cultural and performance options: Jacob's Pillow Dance festival is 3 miles away. Tanglewood is a 25 min. drive. Shakespeare & Co. and Berkshire Theater Festival venues are 20 - 30 min. away. Year 'round there are museums: The Norman Rockwell in Stockbridge, The Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield, the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Museum in Williamstown are the best known. Live theaters offer a shorter list of productions in fall, winter and spring(URL HIDDEN) Becket's Dream Away Lodge is a "best kept secret" with a menu for all tastes and a variety of music offerings in a uniquely satisfying atmosphere. Their menu and entertainers are online. Three small, local diners offer breakfast choices and a variety of lunch and early-dinner eat-in or take-out options. Lee offers a satisfying list of international restaurants and fine steaks, chops and seafood places. Lenox and Stockbridge also offer very good eateries and entertainment venues(URL HIDDEN) Lee has a Prime Outlets mall and small shops abound in Great Barrington, 30 min. drive, Stockbridge, 20 min. away, and Lenox, 20 min. drive(URL HIDDEN)Our friendly dog and cats may take your open bedroom door as an invitation to visit. We're in a private, forest community that offers small beaches on five clean lakes and minimal traffic on our well-maintained hard-pack roads. Access to the highway is a one-minute drive. We are rigid about being smoke free, and have nearly no dust because there's no duct work. We have good cell phone service and we supply wi-fi. You're welcome to watch TV in the great room; just let us know.

Guest access

Bedroom has queen-size, real bed, big windows, cozy bedding, and cross-ventilation and fans in summer. With pre-arrangements, our microwave is usually available. We provide basic dishes and a small, electric coffee-maker, but we don't provide breakfast. All bedding, towels, paper-products are provided. We have parking off the road for enough cars.

Interaction with guests

We're aware that many of our traveler-guests need a good night's sleep, access to the internet and good cell service, hot water and privacy. We're happy to help with directions and quick referrals to local diners and a bit further-away Very Good Restaurants. We're usually home but if guests will need to come and go, we provide a key. We're usually happy to visit with our airbnb guests who are interested in chatting.

Other things to note

Fall foliage color is a highlight of each year in this area; and winter-weather activities are available. A cross-country ski resort is only a few miles away, and several down-hill ski places are within a half-hour's drive. There are three "entries" to the Appalachian Trail, within a few miles and the October Mtn. state forest also has groomed trails for hikers. Other state and local government-maintained hiking areas are within convenient driving distances(URL HIDDEN) Museums, live music, live theater and cinema are all offered during the, "off seasons" even after the intense, summer season offerings at Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow and Williamstown Theater. Fine food in really good restaurants is generally available in Lee, Lenox and Stockbridge, and at Dream Away Lodge in Becket for its short off-season. Holiday dining events are available that range from buffets to reservations-required limited seating.

I enjoyed staying at Robb and Julia's. They recommended an excellent breakfast place which I ended up going to both days I was there. The bedroom I stayed in was nice and the bed was comfortable, with a lot of thick pillows. The shared bathroom was clean and updated. There was a balcony for guest use, although I didn't end up going out onto it. I met Robb and Julia's dog, who was very adorable. If I'm out in the area in the future, I would definitely book with them again.

Very nice place to stay. The upstairs area is private, and has a comfortable space to sit and read, plus it has a fridge and nice bathroom. The bedroom has ample windows for airflow when the door is closed. Robb and Julia are very accommodating and friendly.

Robb and Julia were lovely hosts. Personable and very knowledgeable about the area. The location was perfect for everywhere we needed to be.

Robb and Julia's place was perfect for visiting Jacob's pillow. I would recommend checking in during day light since it will make it easier to navigate the road at night. (It gets pretty dark. Perfect for star gazing on their balcony after a long day)

This was a peaceful and relaxing stay in a clean and simple bedroom with a lovely view of the trees. Great location if you're going to Jacob's Pillow. One tip: Don't rely on GPS for the final mile. Check with Julia ahead of time for directions.

Robb and Julie are welcoming and kind and provided us with everything we needed for our stay after visiting Jacob's Pillow Dance Theatre. Convenient and comfortable location. Will come back! And they have a lovely dog.

Quiet, peaceful, secluded -- great value for money and centrally located for everything in the Berkshires, . . .

Robb and I are both semi-retired, and we built this project and moved in less than 3 years ago. It's important to us that in-floor radiant heat is supplemented by passive solar and that our, "footprint" is as small as we can manage. We dearly love living in this young forest. Wild berries and wildflowers surprise and intrigue us with the changes of every season. We follow news on BC and local outlets; and watch Free Speech TV and reruns of "Castle." We brew tea in a pot with loose leaves; we dine gluten-free and cook for our cats and dog. Favorite dining-out spots are local Indian and Vietnamese restaurants as well as Dream Away Lodge (look it up on the internet) and the diner a mile away that scrambles fresh eggs and home made home fries for breakfast.
We read authors as diverse as Elaine Pagels and Janet Evanovich. Our cars are 8 and 15 years old. We listen to music from the 18th century to the 21st; remember when the "golden oldies" were "top 40 hits" and appreciate skilled blue-grass pickers as much as wonderful cool jazz musicians.
We take pride in honoring your privacy and are deeply grateful for, and consistently pleasantly surprised by, the tender care our premises get from our paying guests.
If you need bigger area that's more private, look into our 3+ B.R. fully furnished house with attached garage, right next door.
